After many years of chronic posting, I’m barely here these days. I’ve started a Substack, though. Here’s why:
I talk Israeli elections in my recent appearance on Zeteo.
“Nobody is running against the genocide.”
@mehdirhasan and @NaomiAKlein discuss the Israeli elections and why no matter who wins the election, ending the genocide isn’t on the ballot.

For 'Unshocked,' @NaomiAKlein & I break down what the Trumps, Bolsonaros, and Netanyahus have in common, and what Brazil’s election result can teach us here:

Shady stuff happening in Brazil’s election, with certain pro-Lula areas experiencing public officials refusing to release 100% of bus fleets, meaning people can’t get to vote in time. Many domestic flights to Lula’s northeast bastions have been cancelled too.

Multiple cities in Brazil including São Paulo and Salvador which both went for Lula in the first round are reporting having significant parts of their public transport system taken offline as part of vote suppression tactics by pro Bolsonaro politicians
So I talked to Piers Morgan for the first time. Turns out he has *very* strong opinions about a book he has not opened let alone read.
Also, Peter Thiel was nice to him, ergo... youtube.com/watch?v=SMFQBQx-…

This is huge.
A just-released SEC filing makes an extraordinary revelation: Mark Zuckerberg is getting ready to pay California’s 5% billionaire wealth tax and has signed an agreement to remain in California for 8 years.
We are witnessing a global turning point unfold before our eyes. 🧵

the UChicago fraternity house rape was stopped by two insanely heroic women. breathtaking levels of solidarity here
A group of men cheered as a woman was sexually assaulted at a University of Chicago frat house, according to a police report obtained by @Suntimes.
The woman told CPD the assault happened during a party at AEPi. Her account was backed up by friends.

Avi Lewis: "You're hearing from leaders across all the key affected sectors, workers, Indigenous communities, and people who care for the beautiful nature of this country. This bill is flawed to its core. It's got to be scrapped."

This afternoon, Parliament will vote for the first time on Bill C-39, which fundamentally attacks the rights of workers, Indigenous rights, and environmental protections. Yesterday, I spoke about this bill and how it undermines the constitutional right to strike.

California’s 250 billionaires know they have little chance of winning a referendum in which 20 million voters are asked to approve a tax of 5% on billionaires’ wealth to fund health care and education.
So, what do they do? Sergey Brin (Google co-founder), @patrickc (Stripe co-founder), @peterthiel , @ericschmidt and others have devised an extraordinary array of schemes to manipulate the vote.

Three million Californians will lose their health coverage as soon as next year if the billionaire tax does not pass. Yet according to this campaign, it is passing the billionaire tax that poses the greatest threat to California’s health care system (!!).
It is an old trick: convince people that the cure will make the disease worse.
Here is the main ad flooding California television and social media right now. Orwellian.
Naomi Klein retweeted
As voting begins today, the world needs to know what Silicon Valley billionaires are doing to sabotage the billionaire tax now on the ballot in California.
This is shocking. 🧵
