🥭 Introducing Mango! On April 6, a toco toucan chick hatched along our South American Trail, marking a first-ever toucan hatch at Naples Zoo. Mango is the first chick for first-time mom Macy and the first offspring at Naples Zoo for dad Manu, who arrived from San Diego Zoo earlier this year. The two were paired through the AZA Species Survival Plan, a program that helps maintain healthy, genetically diverse animal populations across accredited zoos. Manu and Macy are working beautifully together to care for their newest little one. Next time you're on the South American Trail, keep an eye out, you just might spot Mango! And make sure to wish Macy a very happy first Mother's Day this weekend. 🌺

💗 Going pink with Dira! For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dira is sporting a special pink shirt! We often give our orangutans shirts as enrichment, and they can choose how they want to interact with them. Some will voluntarily put them on, while in Dira’s case, she loves putting her shirt on and often turns it into a swing! 🦧💗

Every time we see Xander, he’s a reminder of the amazing work @IcasWild is doing to protect giant anteaters in the wild. We’re proud to help fund this important conservation work, and now that work is being featured in the latest issue of @NatGeo . 🌎 @ben_a_goldfarb highlights Projeto Tamanduá Bandeira’s efforts to make roads safer for giant anteaters and the people who share their habitat, with incredible photography by Fernando Faciole. We’re proud to support this work and the people working every day to give giant anteaters a safer future. (Images 2,3,4,5 - taken by Ben Golfarb )

Sometimes all you need is a hug to make everything a little better. ❤️ Sweet Kapok spotted Dira sitting up on the rock, climbed up to give her a big hug, and then went back to swinging through the habitat.

One of our favorite features in the entire Zoo is the Primate Islands! This unique setup of islands gives our spider monkeys and a variety of primates a natural environment to explore, with plenty of space to climb, swing, and move around. 🚒 Firehoses connect each primate’s primary island to a separate adjacent island, giving them the freedom to move between spaces or move over when their primary island needs to be cleaned without having to share the space with keepers.

Miss Peppercorn! 🤎 This photo was taken just moments ago. Our once tiny kitten isn't so itty bitty anymore, with only a few spots left on her legs. Peppercorn's story has been seen over 200 million times across news and social. If this is your first time seeing her though, here's her story: This little panther had a rough start. FWC biologists tracking her mother by GPS collar noticed she hadn't returned to the den in two weeks, and when it was clear mom wasn't coming back, they stepped in. At around 2 months old, Peppercorn should have weighed close to 10 pounds, but after being left alone for those two weeks, she arrived at Naples Zoo at just 3 pounds and covered in parasites. Now she's thriving, weighing over 35 pounds and growing bigger every day! She continues to live behind the scenes, working on crate training in preparation for her move to another AZA-accredited zoo.

Looks like Trigger is enjoying his new roommate! 🦥🥭 We recently opened the doors between our sloth and toucan habitats, giving our toucan family a little more room to spread their wings, both literally and figuratively. Now, baby Mango and the rest of the toucans can explore both spaces, and it looks like Trigger doesn't mind the extra company one bit! 📸: Keeper Ellie

Meet "Peppercorn" 🐾 The news is out, and we finally get to introduce you to someone very special we've been caring for behind the scenes. Officially known to biologists as K528, this endangered Florida panther kitten was affectionately nicknamed "Peppercorn" by our veterinary and animal care teams. She was rescued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission after her mother didn't return, arriving at just under 3 pounds with a heavy parasite load, and we're happy to say she's now making a remarkable recovery. Peppercorn remains behind the scenes and is not viewable by guests, where our teams can give her the focused care she needs. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be sharing her full journey with you from tiny, fragile kitten to thriving cub. Read her full story at napleszoo.org/news.

Winslow and Wesley 💛 a perfect example of the cheetah brotherhood in action. Male cheetah brothers will often stay together for life in groups called coalitions, usually made up of 2-3 littermates. These bonds help them defend territory, hunt larger prey, and stay safer from predators.

Our wildlife is slowly disappearing one pixel at a time. 😞#endangeredspecies In honor of Endangered Species Day, each pixel in this video represents one individual left in the wild. Each of these animals will continue to get blurrier every year if we don’t step up to the challenge. Every single one of them calls Naples Zoo home and every single one needs our help. Learn about what Naples Zoo is doing to help save animals around the world and how you can make a difference at napleszoo.org/conserve
