Zach cregger on which resident evil character he'd want to protect him
“Oh well, that's easy. if i was stuck in my movie and i could pick any resident evil character, i would bring leon because i would just bear hug myself around him, close my eyes, and just let him protect me.”

Lady Dimitrescu may not appear in Zach Cregger’s new Resident Evil movie, but he already knows who he’d cast as her.
When asked about casting the Resident Evil Village character, Cregger said Christina Hendricks, the Mad Men star, would be his choice, saying, “That feels about right to me.”
As for the movie itself, Cregger has said it won’t directly adapt one of the games or try to cram in loads of Resident Evil lore. The story takes place around the events of Resident Evil 2, with Raccoon City dealing with the outbreak in the background.
He’s more interested in capturing what it actually feels like to play Resident Evil

The Resident Evil movie has a fucking 96% on Rotten Tomatoes with near universal acclaim and the fanbase literally destroyed Zach Cregger's whimsy to the point he doesn't want to make a sequel. What is wrong with you people

(1/11) Alright, I've seen Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie. Here's my honest thoughts
I think this is undoubtedly Zach Cregger's Resident Evil, & what I mean by that is both his style is all over it, but you also can tell he legitimately does love RE & this was inspired by his
Damn the Resident Evil movie was fucking awesome
It felt like playing RE2 for the first time
But Zach Cregger I need you to reshoot & rerelease the film in a week:
Keep the major story beats, but this time Austin Abrams knows where the key items are & carries a rocket launcher

i feel like you have to play resident evil to fully appreciate the new resident evil movie.. my dude bryan was doing everything an re player does: panic reloading, wasting ammo on dumb shit, swearing every 2 sec, wearing one jacket in a blizzard and somehow never getting cold

The Resident Evil movie is like watching a very charming idiot play Resident Evil badly and it's very fun

I like the Resident Evil movie as a social experiment to see who is an empathetic human being or not.
No, you don't *have* to help the little girl, but if you truly cannot understand *why* someone would try to help that little girl, you are not a good person.

Honestly, that’s one of the funniest ways to look at Bryan’s whole mission . He thinks he’s carrying something that could save his pregnant girlfriend and possibly stop the outbreak, but the movie makes it feel like Umbrella had already prepared for the possibility that the first courier wouldn’t make it. Bryan wasn’t really the chosen hero carrying the cure from point A to B. He was essentially Plan B who happened to survive long enough to become something much worse.
And that also makes Bryan’s ending hit harder. The ingredient was important, but Bryan himself was never the priority. Umbrella was protecting the research and the cure, not the people caught in the middle. So while Bryan sees himself as someone trying to complete a critical delivery, from Umbrella’s perspective he’s basically another disposable asset. That whole idea fits the Resident Evil world perfectly: the corporation has a backup plan for the backup plan, while the poor guy actually doing the job has no idea what he’s carrying.

Would be nice if we got a resident evil movie by someone who doesn’t see the source material as being beneath them
