Coral reefs cover just 1% of the ocean floor but support 25% of marine species, sustain fisheries & tourism, and shield coastlines from storms. This September marks Coral Bleaching Awareness Month. Here's what's at stake and how we can help. go.coral.org/coral-bleaching @coral_org
BREAKING NEWS: Nearly all assessed shallow-water coral reef ecosystems face a high risk of collapse within 50 years, with 96% Critically Endangered.
First global coral reefs assessment under the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems, launched at #COP17Armenia. @redlisteco

🇸🇨 Seychelles’ seaports keep people, goods, and livelihoods connected.
Through a @cdri_world funded #resilientinfrastructure project implemented by @NatureSey, climate risks and vulnerabilities will be assessed to help shape adaptation strategies for ports across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue.
⚓ Supporting smarter investments in flood protection, stormwater management, and infrastructure upgrades for ~100,000 people.

Climate-driven marine heatwaves — and the global bleaching events they drive — are the primary cause of the global decline in hard coral cover, now a recurrent and escalating pressure rather than episodic. 👉gcrmn.net/2025-report/ #coralbleachingawarenessmonth
