This disgusting barbarism sets an expectation and a new tradition that elephants will be killed to celebrate future national events I agree boycott Botswana Botswana is heavily dependent on tourism and this will send a clear message to Botswana to stop this cruelty
A day of deep shame and condemnation for Botswana as people swarm to feast on 23 elephants slaughtered to “celebrate 60th anniversary celebrations”. Botswana has a huge cattle herd—roughly equivalent to the adult human population. They also have an established beef export industry—they don’t need to slaughter elephants for food. The Botswana Environment and Tourism Minister issued complimentary hunting licenses to 20 administrative precincts. The licenses also include other wild species such as eland, kudus, South African oryx, impalas and wildebeests. I hope tourists show their disgust at his decision by boycotting Botswana for at least a year. What kind of message does it give to poachers when the government sanctions killing elephants for a feast? There will be mourning in Botswana, but not by the diners.

We don't have to choose between food security and forest conservation. Agroforestry proves we can have both. Food on the table. Carbon in the ground. Life in the soil. #EnvironmentalSustainability

Tunga River at Tirthahalli this morning. Tunga Dam discharging 6,400 Cusecs, After two days of heavy rain in the Sringeri and Kudremukh regions, the Tunga River is flowing strongly again, with its waters turning red due to the heavy runoff. The river had dried up unusually early in October, leaving people across the Malnad region worried. Now, the renewed flow has brought a sense of relief and happiness to the local communities. 1 October came and went. No first oil. Uganda pushed its target for commercial oil production to June 2027. #EACOP may be nearing completion, but it's not a done deal. The fight moves deeper into commissioning, finance, and accountability. Read our statement: 350.org/press-release/east-a…
