WASHINGTON- Ambassador (ret.) Atul Keshap, President, U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC), released the following statement calling on both governments to intensify their efforts to conclude a trade agreement.
“The United States and India have achieved truly historic milestones over the last two decades. Finalizing a Reciprocal Agreement on Trade before year’s end would be their greatest accomplishment yet.
“We call on both governments to use this opportunity to conclude an agreement that lowers trade barriers, and minimizes tariffs. A historic agreement would encapsulate this year’s hard-won progress providing greater certainty to an incredibly consequential economic and strategic bilateral partnnership.
“Unlocking reciprocal trade will build on 2026’s record investments and secure a win for American and Indian business that delivers immediate benefits to working families by boosting manufacturing, opening vast new consumer markets, and cementing both nations as global leaders in AI.
“U.S.-India Business Council members are steadfast champions of this partnership. We look forward to working with both governments to accelerate collaboration between the world’s largest economy and its fastest-growing major economy.”

BREAKING: #Pakistan and #Bangladesh agreed to “further deepen” bilateral cooperation.
Had a warm and most cordial exchange with H.E. Mr Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, on the margins of UNGA in New York, this morning.
In our most useful discussion, Prime Minister Rehman and I agreed to further deepen Pakistan-Bangladesh bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges, while maintaining close coordination between our two countries on regional and global issues as well as at multilateral fora.
I also congratulated Mr. Khalil ur Rehman, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, on assuming the Presidency of 81st UNGA and assured him of Pakistan's support in the successful conduct of the Assembly.
