Braced myself for a tantalising day of test cricket. These blokes have ended every ounce of hope 40 minutes in.
Marnus is psychologically destroyed. On a human level, you feel for him. But there’s just no coming back from here.
Been handed chance after chance. Far beyond what his performances have warranted. But it’s well and truly done now.
Highly doubt Harper is the answer either, but we have to try things.
The only way Marnus saves his career is with a match winning knock. Whatever that may look like, it’s the ONLY way.
For all intents and purposes, this should be his last test. Unless…
Day 5. A clean slate. 288 to chase. All three results in play. Careers hanging in the balance...
Today, peak test cricket - the greatest format of all.
What a bloody day!
330, a lead on the board, 6 wickets in hand…
About as close to perfect as it gets.
If we want to bring Konstas into the side at some point, I’d move Head back to 5 and keep Renshaw at the top of the order.
Marnus getting a duck on this wicket is actually astonishing. Like, how on earth has he managed that?
I don’t know if Renshaw is THE solution to our opening woes, but he’s sure as hell a better solution than any over these past two years.
How many other fast bowlers in history have improved as significantly with age as Starc?
The man looks fitter, sharper and downright better than ever approaching his late 30s, still consistently bowling at 145+.
It makes no bloody sense.
This entire day was a proper roller coaster, but we’ll take that every day of the week.
Second new ball definitely did a lot more than the first, but I’d imagine facing up to it tomorrow morning will be very different.
Still not convinced this batting lineup has it in them, but we’ve given ourselves a good chance.
