Yesterday, sometime between 2am and 1pm, a malicious version of Claude Code extension was published to VS code and Cursor market place.
This extension opens an SSH reverse shell to the attacker’s server. Cursor notes steps have been taken to take down the attacker’s server and it’s currently not running.
Anthropic is yet to release a security statement but Cursor has published a blog post on ways to check if you were infected and if you were, what to do.

aight, fuck it, my turn for this kind of post
i'm looking for work.
i'm 21 and i've spent a rather unreasonable amount of time building software over the past year.
here's some of what i've been up to:
kiban: built an embedded LSM storage engine from scratch in rust. WAL, SSTables, compaction, snapshots, concurrency, crash recovery and fault injection.
the benchmarks are probably my favourite part. on warm 1M-record workloads, i got 0.96µs median point reads and over 1M point-read calls/s, with 2.2-2.7x faster point reads than tuned RocksDB. group commit pushed fully durable writes to 5,379/s at 16 writers, a 7.5x improvement. also managed to shrink the point index by 61%.
styx: a ~41k LOC bittorrent client in rust with 600+ tests. implemented peer-wire networking, verified downloading/seeding, trackers, DHT, magnet metadata exchange, daemon IPC, CLI/TUI and a desktop shell.
kurogane: implemented Raft consensus from scratch in rust. elections, log replication, snapshots, crash recovery, joint consensus, real gRPC networking and a deterministic fault-injecting simulator with linearizability verification.
konto: built a double-entry accounting engine with PostgreSQL and typescript. atomic transactions, holds, transfers, idempotency and enforced financial invariants. includes stress testing with 1,000 concurrent transfer/hold operations.
iris: built a GPU-accelerated image viewer for linux using rust, Vulkan, GTK4 and DMA-BUF. RAW decoding, ICC colour management, GPU rendering, Wayland presentation and software fallbacks.
webnotes: built a local-first notes app with a native Tauri desktop client, SQLite storage, bidirectional linking, a structured editor and web synchronization.
scribe: built an open-source publishing SDK for React, Next.js and Vite. handles Markdown/MDX compilation, typography, components, styling and local authoring. currently in public beta.
and then there's my open source work.
i've had PRs merged into HelixDB, Turso, Apache DataFusion, Zed, NativeLink, Zilliz Knowhere and Nix, covering everything from database internals and query execution to infrastructure, editor behaviour and correctness fixes.
i've also got contributions underway in RocksDB, Neon, HydraDB, FalkorDB and Starship, among others.
most of my work revolves around rust, typescript, databases, storage, networking and systems engineering. i've also been getting deeper into ML infrastructure and inference.
i'm looking for a full-time remote engineering role. internships and contracts are on the table too.
my github has all the code, benchmarks and documentation:

if you're hiring or know someone who is, hit me up.
reposts appreciated :)

shyness needs to be overcome eventually. because it can be a hindrance, it can hold you back when you need to be bold.
when you meet people you consider important, you shouldn’t put them on a pedestal. they’re regular folks like you, and many of them are lucky to be where they are.
plus, some people are weird. you put them on a pedestal, and they start to see you as inferior and treat you that way. i’m not like that though.
today i met 2 guys both in their early 20s who were happy to introduce themselves to me and we talked quite at length. this was while i was leaving Moonshot, so i was waiting for my cab to pick me up.
turned out we were all heading in the same direction, so i agreed to drop them off at their destinations.
on the trip, i told them stories from my early days at Moniepoint. and gave tons of career advice, even talked about projects i’m currently working on.
before they dropped off, I exchanged contacts with one of them with plans to collaborate soon.
when you’re unable to break through the shyness, you create mental barriers that prevent you from seizing potential opportunities. and those barriers only exist in your head.
honestly it’s not that serious.
i am more than happy to meet you next time. don’t overthink it ❤️

RFC 9110 defines 3 distinct success codes for DELETE, and choosing the wrong one breaks client state machines in distributed systems
the 3 HTTP status codes and when staff engineers use each:
1. 204 No Content (synchronous completion, no body):
the standard default. the resource was physically or logically removed during the request window, and the server has nothing to return. saves serialization overhead and bandwidth on mobile/high-throughput clients
2. 200 OK (synchronous completion with tombstone/snapshot):
used when the client needs the final state of the deleted entity—such as an audit payload, cascade summary (`{"deleted_children": 14}`), or soft-delete tombstone with `deleted_at` timestamps for optimistic cache invalidation
3. 202 Accepted (asynchronous / background deletion):
the most critical code for distributed architectures. if deleting a workspace, large database partition, or cloud resource kicks off background worker queues (draining replicas, orphan cleanup), returning 200/204 is an architectural lie. return `202 Accepted` with a `Location` header pointing to a job status URL (`/tasks/{job_id}`)
bonus for idempotency: if the resource is already deleted, return `404 Not Found` (or `410 Gone` if permanently purged) to inform the caller the URI no longer maps to an existing resource

Since I was born, this is the first time I'm seeing a minister interpreting this scripture rightly. The rest have monetize the gospel according to their own desires. Even non-ministers monetize this verse according to how their pastors teach it.
This is the gospel.
Do you know what it means for the youth leader of a party to have spare 1 billion to distribute Prados? Youth leader not commissioner or Minister.
This is why when some people were claiming Nigeria was poor and we are not "oil rich" after I made a post saying education in an oil producing nation should be free, I felt like going crazy.
Do you know the careless funds at the disposal of these people? I feel anyone supporting APC at this point is a demon from hell and that's the mildest way I can put it.

was trying to exit an event and someone with their mobile videographer literally blocked the exit doing dancing content. I get it, so I stood aside waiting to pass. These people continued and didn’t have the courtesy to step aside until a line began to form. This isn’t normal

Make pesin dey pretend 16 years in advance. This Peter Obi guy is so corny.
Vote for him sha.
Peter Obi flew into Haiti in 2010 - days after a devastating earthquake flattened the country with actor Bob Manuel.
He didn’t just drop off a cheque. He donated $200,000, then stayed on the ground as an aid worker… with his son.
Was he campaigning to become President of Haiti?
No.
He was simply doing what some leaders only pretend to do when the cameras are rolling.

I’m still hiring at Xtra Space. Incase you know anyone who is a perfect fit please forward the opportunity to them.
I am not great at a lot of things, but you see finding talent and nurturing it to full potential. Not many people are greater.
On that note, I think it's time to open the doors of @thereboottv to one more presenter. I need a storyteller with a love for epic african stories. The more gory, the better. Eran iya Osogbo, Koto Aiye, madam koikoi esque storytellers.
If this is you, and you are available to join a team fulltime or parttime in the City of Akure. Send an email to [email protected] with a video link no longer that 90 seconds telling the most captivating epic story you can think of.
Good luck!
