At what point do we stop focusing on who needs to pay more tax and start asking where all of our tax money is going.
What 😆😆😆😆😆😆
This Islamophobia Awareness Month, we must shine a light on the abhorrent hatred and discrimination Muslims continue to face.
In the last year alone, religious hate crimes targeting Muslims rose by 15% in England and Wales.
This is utterly unacceptable. London will always stand against hatred, prejudice and discrimination.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
UK security agencies still assess Islamist extremism as the largest terrorism threat. MI5's Islamist-related caseload remains roughly 75% of its counter-terrorism work, according to recent threat assessments.

Mental world we live in. Can’t say anything to anyone. Legal action for saying Villa are shit 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Jamie Carragher has apologised to Aston Villa and their fans for using “clumsy and wrong” language while talking about the club.
His apology comes after Villa said they would initiate legal proceedings against the former Liverpool defender for “unacceptable insults” about the club.

An insult to all the proper intelligent Diiv fans. A waste of everyone’s time this album. 🫠
DIIV’s new album, ZIRP!, bottles all the dread about societal collapse and blows it up to pop scale. With it comes “The New Alternative,” a term that attempts to describe the genre-breaking renaissance of the 2020s.
We’re exploring what that means in 2026 with an exclusive zine — get yours shorturl.at/EuQZ2

One of the most wonderful sights and sounds of Test cricket is seeing a crowd applaud a tail ender for defending defiantly.
Completely agree. What a shame then, that those selfish cunts in charge of England turned ourTest side into a circus by the end. Unforgivable.

Have checked Wisden, and can confirm this is the most ebb and flow per session of any three-Test series in cricket history #AUSvsSA

A lot of Marnus hate going on and I know it has no relevance to his runs but he is a top bloke. Covered him at Glamorgan in 2024 and it was a Family T20 night. Marnus was last off the pitch, not leaving until every kid had a photo or autograph. A good guy.

Hi @MartinSLewis Just to be clear please. Is there anything in the budget today that ultimately helps people who get up and work hard week in week out or is it just for those who don’t bother? If it’s the latter should we all sod it off and start claiming for everything? Thanks
Budget = pay more to live in declining standards, where you can’t speak freely, can’t question biological facts and are submissive to a certain religion. Deary, deary me. 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠
🚨 NEW: John Healey is set to announce the following in his Budget later
- The gas standing charge will be scrapped to save £27 a year on a typical bill
- Green levies on energy bills will be scraped "for good"
- NHS prescription charges will be frozen at £9.90 for another year
- Poorer households on benefits will receive extra help with energy bills before January's sharp rises
- The VAT cut on electricity bills, which was due to expire in April, will be extended (though it's not clear if this will be announced in the Budget or separately)
- The Government will remove the link between gas and electricity prices, which currently inflates household bills, "in the long term"
- Banks will face higher taxes, with the surcharge on their profits potentially rising from 3% to 8%, making it the Budget’s biggest revenue raiser
- HMRC will be given powers to seize money from the bank accounts of people who fail to pay their tax
- The freeze on rail fares will reportedly not be extended beyond April
- Online retailers like Amazon, eBay and Temu will be made responsible for collecting unpaid VAT from sellers to fund a cut in business rates for high street shops
- The thresholds for income tax will be frozen again so another half a million people may be dragged into the higher rate
- January's planned increase in fuel duty will be cancelled
- Pensioners relying solely on the state pension will see their tax-free allowance rise to £13,036, in line with the pension increase, so they don't pay income tax
- Billions in long-term borrowing to invest in defence firms and raise the share of GDP spent on defence (without breaking fiscal rules, as the investments are expected to generate returns)
- The upcoming "Your First Home" scheme will be made more generous to provide greater support for middle-income earners
- The Budget will also assume the Rosebank oil field is approved, which will generate "significant tax revenues"
