Polygon Labs brought its Open Money Stack to Solana, the first time its stablecoin payments toolkit runs on the network. A Solana business gets one integration to take in bank, card, cash and crypto funding and pay out to banks, cards or wallets, with cross-border payments firm Kira among the first users. The Solana Foundation says the network has carried more than $5 trillion in stablecoin volume this year.
Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin is now available in Coinbase's retail app, exchange and Prime platforms. Customers can convert dollars and supported dollar stablecoins into RLUSD at 1:1, and RLUSD has passed $2.6 billion in market capitalization, according to Ripple.
Curve Finance launched StableSwap on Stellar mainnet, its first native deployment outside the EVM world. Anyone can create a pool, swap or provide liquidity for assets that track each other closely, such as stablecoins pegged to the same currency.
The Bank of England opened a consultation on how clearing houses can accept tokenized collateral, saying existing rules already allow it and the draft adds no new obligations. The consultation closes on February 12, 2027.
Payment tools, retail apps, liquidity pools and a central bank's rulebook all added a route for the digital dollar, and where you hold it still decides who can move it.

Binance's $6.3B incident is a reminder: your keys, your crypto.

This week brought a lot of news, but one story mattered more than any other: the Binance security incident. So this week, we're focusing on it.
🚨 Binance, the world's largest exchange, confirmed a security incident affecting $6.3 billion in user funds, what looks like the largest crypto theft on record.
🔍 Its preliminary findings point to a compromised laptop of a company software engineer. Binance says it found no evidence of any wallet private key leak, revoked the affected address authorizations and suspended withdrawals on multiple networks while it overhauls its withdrawal security.
🧊 Roughly $2.5 to $3 billion of the affected assets has been frozen on-chain, with Tether, Circle and Ripple among those freezing funds. No attacker has been named, and the full post-mortem is still to come.
🛡️ Binance says user funds are safe and that it will cover all losses from its SAFU fund, historically about $1 billion, and company funds.
⚠️ The same day, Polymarket halted trading after a compromised third-party provider drained about $2.6 million from user wallets. It says affected users will be made whole.
Two attacks that went through a laptop and a vendor, not the blockchain. That's why self-custody matters: no matter how big you are or how good your defense is, holding your own keys takes someone else's security out of the equation. It's a premium layer of safety, though not a free one, because you protect those keys yourself. In self-custodial wallet apps like @ZyptoApp , your keys stay on your own device.

Stablecoin transfers averaged more than $400 million an hour in the third quarter, according to a new Coinbase and The Block report. Adjusted volume reached $891 billion for the quarter, about four times its level at the start of 2023, and roughly 73% of screened transfer volume over the 12 months to July 31 happened outside US banking hours.
Solana's Alpenglow upgrade, the network's biggest overhaul since 2020, is set to go live on Wednesday. It replaces the network's voting system and targets finality of roughly 150 milliseconds, about 40 times faster than today's 6 seconds, if the target holds on mainnet.
Swiss regulator FINMA approved the country's first Bitcoin ETF for retail investors. Until now, Bitcoin ETFs there were open only to institutional or qualified investors, and the fund received an exemption from the usual risk diversification rules. FINMA hasn't said which asset manager or bank will launch it.
Money that moves outside banking hours, finality in milliseconds and Bitcoin through a brokerage all widen access, and who holds it once it arrives still decides what you own.

Mesh has partnered with Visa so people can use the crypto and stablecoin balances in participating wallet apps at more than 175 million merchant locations, with no separate card needed. Mesh handles funding and conversion behind the scenes, and launch timing and the first platforms haven't been announced.
Five German savings banks began offering crypto trading in their banking app on October 19, with Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Solana and POL at a reported €0.99 per order plus the spread. DekaBank holds the private keys, and withdrawals can only go to approved crypto service providers.
Zerohash launched AUTH, which moves crypto, stablecoins and tokenized stocks between linked accounts without anyone copying a wallet address or picking a network. It supports more than 600 connections, and Coinbase, Robinhood and Gemini are already live.
JPMorgan brought its JPM Coin deposit token to Ethereum for institutional clients, after launching it on Base in November 2025. Each token represents a dollar held at JPMorgan, and only counterparties the bank has approved can hold it.
A checkout, a banking app, a transfer screen and a bank's own dollars all took a step out of using crypto, and who holds the keys still decides what you own.

Mastercard and BVNK launched the Global Money Platform on October 15, their first major integration since Mastercard closed its roughly $1.8 billion acquisition of BVNK in August. Banks, fintechs and businesses get accounts that hold fiat and stablecoins side by side, convert between them through a single API, and spend stablecoin balances across Mastercard's merchant network.
AI agents have made more than 138 million payments through x402, the protocol incubated by Coinbase, according to Chainalysis research reported by CoinDesk. The payments run on Base, and over 87% were worth between one-hundredth of a cent and 10 cents. Chainalysis cautions that the counts alone don't show how much is genuine commercial demand.
Multiliquid raised $8 million, with Polychain leading the seed round and Circle Ventures among the backers. Its non-custodial platform converts tokenized funds into stablecoins, or back again, in a single transaction priced at net asset value, and it has just started pilot transactions.
A business account, a software agent and a tokenized fund all got a shorter path to using a digital dollar.
