The persistent desire by so many to discuss the Cornell 7 or Lyndsey Clancy is another symptom of a degenerate culture. People have no shame. Let's recover a culture that revels in goodness, truth, and beauty. That starts by not indulging in lurid conversations in public.

Let me assure everyone that no slander of Bluey was intended in this post. Let's just keep him in his proper place and not the pulpit.
As a Pastor, I don't treat my congregation like children in the sermon. We don't combat a deficit of biblical knowledge by turning the preaching of the Word into Bluey episodes. A competent teacher can on-ramp those new to the Bible while feeding the most experienced sheep.

And our congregation is filled with actual children during the sermon.

Sexuality is a key feature of being human. While sex is often portrayed as animalistic, in humans, it is a defining part of the Imago Dei. Male and female He made them. Our sexual dysfunction is a result of forgetting what a human actually is and what humans are made to do.

YES! The root issues matter the most. Today's fights over abortion, immigration, education are all anthropology. Once @Newman_BJ showed me this I can't shake it. We are happy to fight over the results and will talk about anything but the real cause.

This is a job called the Sluggard Waker. When a member of the congregation falls asleep during worship, he is supposed to give them a good schwack. Perhaps this is why older sermons lasted two or more hours. Maybe we should consider bringing this back as a ministry position.
An 18th-century "sluggard-waker" using a long staff to wake a sleeping churchgoer in some British parish churches during the Georgian era... In 18th Century British churches, sermons were long, cold, and often delivered in dimly lit buildings where parishioners sat packed together for hours. Falling asleep wasn’t just common, it was expected. To keep order and maintain the dignity of worship, churches appointed a special officer known as the sluggard‑waker, usually the parish clerk. His entire job was to patrol the pews and watch for drooping heads, nodding bodies, or anyone drifting off during the service. The sluggard‑waker carried a long wooden staff, often tipped with different ends depending on whom he needed to wake. A brass knob or fork was used to sharply tap men on the head, while a fox tail was reserved for gently brushing awake women, a gendered etiquette that varied by region. These staffs were not subtle tools; they were long, sturdy poles designed to reach across pews and deliver a noticeable jolt back to consciousness. The tapping was intentionally sharp, not gentle, because the goal was to keep the entire congregation attentive and prevent disruptions. This role existed because church services were central to community life, and maintaining decorum was considered essential. The sluggard‑waker became a recognizable figure in parish culture, part disciplinarian, part caretaker, and occasionally a source of humor or embarrassment for those caught dozing. By the 19th century, as church practices modernized and sermons shortened, the job faded away, becoming one of many obsolete ecclesiastical occupations remembered today mostly through illustrations, anecdotes, and historical records. In some rural parishes, the sluggard‑waker wasn’t only responsible for waking sleepers but also for maintaining discipline among animals that wandered into church. Dogs often followed their owners inside, and when they began fighting, barking, or chasing each other down the aisles, the same church officer used his staff to separate them, drive them out, or restore order. This dual role, part human‑waker, part dog‑whipper, made him a strange but essential figure in early church life, keeping both parishioners and their pets under control during long services. #archaeohistories

This is the correct take on all of the discussions about Vivek in Ohio.
Ohio voter - there was no real choice for the primary. AG Yost bailed on the primary fight due to Trump clearing the deck; even liberal Republican DeWine decide that his anointed Jim Tressel couldn’t overcome a Trump endorsement of Vivek. This loss when it comes is all Trump’s.

I warn on Christian radio, and have interviewed @Newman_BJ, about my fear of upcoming euthanasia of boomers. 70-year-olds frequently get defensive and say they’re armed, as if I’m the enemy. I’m the guy who wants to help them connect with their kids, impact their grandkids, and restore their family line. They sometimes want to shoot me for pointing out that many in my generation want them dead and that we have to fix things.
I don't think the older generations fully grasp the tidal wave of resentment and anger they are storing up against them... Friend spotted this at a local campground and zipped it to me. Truly the generations that normalized killing their young before they were even born and now leaving the remaining ones to fend for themselves are deep under God's judgment...

The natural order established by God between men and women offers the greatest cultural return on investment than anything else we are facing today. Getting this right will be hard, as it has always been in a sin-cursed world, but all other Christian influence depends it.
The toughness, clarity, and drive of men paired with the beauty, nurture, and warmth of women makes the rich soil where mature disciples grow.

Grocery stores have a front row seat to the economy. If it isn't already obvious, the economy is going to continue to crush middle and lower income houses.

Jesus is Lord is directly political in nature.
I’ll never understand Christians, specifically pastors, who refuse to engage in politics. The Bible is a supremely political book. Moses dedicated an entire book to the topic of how to set up a government. The entire story of redemption is the story of Israel rejecting God as King and setting up their own, refusing to tear down the idols of foreign nation’s gods, and realizing the consequences of such folly. Scripture is framed in politics and Jesus is prophesied as the Prince of Peace, and the government will be upon his shoulders. When Israel went into captivity they were explicitly commanded to seek the good of the city leading Daniel and his three friends to refuse to obey Babylon’s laws ultimately culminating in Nebuchadnezzar’s acknowledgement of the supremacy of the God of Heaven. God himself is the one who sets up nations and their boundaries because when the nations attempted to unite it wasn’t to worship God is was to make a name for themselves. Babel is proof and the scattering of the nations was God’s design. Christians who support globalism are Christians who have collapsed the eternal state into the here and now. Yes, eternity will be people from every tribe, tongue and nation, but that is after sin is decisively rooted out, the wheat and the chaff separated and the eternal state commenced. Jesus ultimate Kingdom is not a worldly design like we have currently, it is a perfect, benevolent monarchy. Current systems of government are imperfect placeholders designed to restrain as much sin as possible but ultimately fall flat. That is what Jesus meant when he said his kingdom was not of this world. He meant it didn’t follow this worlds system, not that it was a kingdom in some other dimension. No His reign extends here. Christian nationalism is the logical conclusion when Christians obey. Christians will disciple the nations and teach them to obey and on this side of heaven nations have borders. As the gospel spreads and hearts are changed, nations should look more and more Christian because as we’ve already seen, the Bible is a Christian book and Gods people are political. Joseph rose to the second in command of Egypt. David was King of Israel. Daniel was the advisor to kings of Babylon. The entire framing of the Christian life is political. We are at war with powers, principalities, and rulers in heavenly places. The angelic realm is constantly at war with the demonic. Politics is unavoidable and only a Christian who hasn’t studied his Bible can conclude politics doesn’t matter. When Christians obey they seek power and influence “for the good of the city” which means pushing for laws that honor God and provide for human flourishing. Solomon wrote that when the righteous rule the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule the people groan. Obedient Christians seek to honor God by first obeying Gods word themselves, then sharing the gospel and seeking power and influence to push God honoring laws in the land.

The fatal flaw of Evangelicalism is its deep opposition to hierarchy. Here is the logic. Evangelicals are deeply committed to the Gospel and the theological truths that surround it. We want every person, no matter their life circumstances, to come to faith in Christ. 1/

Evangelicals make up a huge portion of the American population, but we hold almost no institutional power in media, business, architecture, film, art, finance, literature, or most other areas of societal influence. 9/

My brothers in Christ, we must pursue excellence in all spheres of life without our fellow Evangelicals pulling us like crabs back into the bucket. Our God calls us to love all men, true. But we can do that best by seeking to glorify God with our commitment to our craft. 10/10
