PRESS RELEASE Shettima, Atiku, Obi, Kalu, Onyejeocha, others, bid Pa Ukachukwu Ifoh farewell at 91 Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Atiku Abubarkar, Presidential Candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Party, NDC, Peter Obi, Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Ben Kalu and immediate past minister of Labour and Employment Nkiruka Onyejeocha were among the top political leaders who consoled with the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh as he laid to rest on Friday his father, Late Pa Lawrence Ukachukwu Ifoh. The late patriarch of the Ifohs, a business man, prominent community leader and faithful Christian was laid to rest in Mbala Isuochi in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia state. He was aged 91 years. Vice President Shetima in his condolence message eschewed the virtues of the late patriarch whom he said exemplified godly virtues, which form part of the legacy he bequeathed to his children. "His business ventures recorded remarkable success due to his acumen, diligence, honesty, and forthrightness in all his dealings. Our nation needs the entrenchment and sustenance of peace and stability as the life of Pa Ukachukwu mirrors what we can achieve if we love one another and become our brother's keeper." Former Vice President Atiku Abubarkar said that Pa Ifoh lived a life of quiet strength and enduring faith and for 91 years, he was a beacon of love, discipline and wisdom to all who knew him. "He nurtured generations with selfless devotion and left behind a legacy of integrity, hard work and compassion. To the Ifoh family: I mourn with you, but I also celebrate with you. Your father lived well, loved deeply and has gone to rest in eternal peace." Mr. Peter Obi in his condolence message prayed that God "who called him home grant him eternal rest in His kingdom; and grant you, and your family the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable loss." The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu in his condolence message said that "The true measure of a man's life is not merely in the number of years he lived, but in the values he imparted, the lives he touched, and the legacy he left behind. From the tributes and celebration of his life, it is evident that your late father was a man whose influence reached beyond his immediate family and whose memory will continue to be cherished by all who knew him." The former Deputy Whip of the Federal House of Representatives and immediate past Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkiruka Onyejeocha (Adaejiagamba) who personally graced the occasion noted that the exit of Pa Lawrence, no doubt, lives such an unwieldy vacuum not only to Ifoh’s family, but also to the church and Umuobasi Autonomous Community at large. "Indeed, the death of a loved one is a painful and an irreparable loss; however, the abiding tenets of our Christian faith give us the assurance that our departed ones are resting blissfully in the bossom of the Lord. Your father lived in such a way that he impacted greatly on every one with whom he came in contact with during his life time." The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure was represented at the occasion by the party's governorship candidate in Abia state, Chief Ceekay Igara who came with a large contingents of Party faithfuls. While paying his tribute, Chief Igara described Pa Ifoh as a man of enduring impact, wisdom and community service. He said his presence at the ceremony reflected his belief that leadership goes beyond political activities and require standing with the people during both moments of celebration and grief. He said, "Leadership is about being with the people in good times and in difficult times." In his homily, Venerable Stanley Anyanwu, of the St. Michaels Anglican Church witnessed the life of service, humility and love of God lived by Pa Ifoh as an emulation of life Christ lived while on earth. He said he was touched by the level of dedication to the work of God which Papa even at a very ripe age typified. "What will you be remembered for when you must have transited. Just like Christ 2000 years after death, what will people say about your life on earth when you are no more. The legacy you live behind must be most fitting testament of what you were." 16th July, 2026 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRESS STATEMENT BY PRINCE KENNEDY AHANOTU, LABOUR PARTY 2027 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE ON RECENT DEVELOPMENTS CONCERNING THE LABOUR PARTY AND OUR COMMITMENT TO DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTIONS While participating in an international seminar on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Developing Countries, alongside critical government officials from Nigeria’s Office of the Vice President, the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, and 32 other experts from 11 countries currently gathered in Beijing, China, my attention was drawn to a publication by Mr. Ken Asogwa and certain individuals celebrating what they consider a political development within the Labour Party. I must state clearly that the reported developments are neither a surprise nor a distraction to me and my team. Rather, they reinforce the urgent need for Nigeria to strengthen democratic institutions, respect the rule of law, and ensure that political parties remain truly democratic platforms for citizens and members. The issues surrounding the leadership and internal administration of the Labour Party are already before the relevant legal institutions, and we remain confident that justice will ultimately prevail. History has consistently demonstrated that actions taken against fairness, transparency, and due process eventually face the judgment of time. Our commitment to the Future Now Agenda — Youth Leadership and Governance for All Citizens remains unwavering. Our mission has never been driven by desperation, personal ambition, or the pursuit of political convenience. It is a movement founded on the conviction that Nigeria deserves stronger institutions, accountable leadership, and a governance system that places citizens at the centre of national development. STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY Candidates' Upload: Labour Party commends NDC, raises concern over INEC selective obedience to court proceedings The leadership of the Labour Party has commended the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC for finally uploading its candidates data into the portal despite an initial attempt by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to deny them access to the portal. The party however raised concern over INEC's selective obedience to court proceedings and order, warning that democracy in Nigeria faces great danger if the present leadership of INEC is allowed to decide orders to obey or disobey. The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, in a statement wondered why INEC refused to obey a notice of appeal and motion for stay of execution lawfully filed by the Julius Abure led executive against a ruling of a Federal High Court which ruled in favour of Nenadi Usman's interim executive. According to the party's spokesperson, "The position of the law is that once there is a motion for stay and a notice of appeal, all parties are expected to wait until the motion for stay is determined before any other actions are taken. But the case of Labour Party, INEC refused to observe that judicial principle and was in a hurry to obey that order." He noted that though it was good that INEC observed that judicial principle in the matter as regards to the NDC but quite unfortunate that it chose to turn a blind eyes to the case involving Labour Party. "Why is INEC not following the rule of law, why is the commission embarking on selective obedience to Court judgement? It chooses orders to obey and the ones not to obey. The rule of law indicates that all judicial proceedings must be respected and that all court orders must be given equal treatment. "We are saying this, not because we are against the treatment INEC meted to NDC or any other person for that, but against the background of our own circumstances. When the Federal High Court judgment that brought in Nenadi was given on the 21st of January, 2026, we immediately filed a notice of appeal, and motion for stay of execution, but on the 29th of January, INEC quickly obeyed court order, in spite of the notice of appeal and a motion of stay. INEC removed our name from the portal when the motion for stay and a notice of appeal were all pending. That on its own was illegal. "Why we are bringing it to the public is because in the case of NDC, INEC gave its reason that because of the motion for stay and a notice of appeal, that it was compelled to upload the NDC. Why did the commission not apply the same principle to Labour Party? "Secondly, if you recall, there was a Federal High Court order directing INEC that it should comply with the amended electoral act, that its timetable was not in consonant with the Electoral Act, INEC filed a notice of appeal and it refused to obey that order on the ground that the commission was on appeal. "All of these put together, do we now say that INEC is unjustly targeting Labour Party, given the background that it was this same INEC that falsely orchestrated the crisis in the Labour Party when it alleged that the tenure of our executive has expired. When indeed, INEC was given the notice of the convention and a report was given to the commission after the convention as required by the law, and, the CTC was issued to the party. But in spite of all these, the commission still came up to say that the tenure had expired. INEC deliberately waited till June when the tenure was deemed to have expired before it raised the issue. "We are raising this question because when it happened to Labour Party people were quiet, thinking that it will not get to them but an injury to one should be an injury to all. THE SOUND OF EMPTY VESSELS: Why Political Minnows Are Rattled by Obiora Ifoh’s Intellectual Weight It is a curious spectacle to watch the political fringe struggle to find its footing. Recently, a collection of nameless, faceless keyboard warriors, clutching their paychecks from Abia State's state funded propaganda machine, have attempted to attack the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Mr. Obiora Ifoh. The result was as pathetic as it was predictable: a desperate, unhinged rant that revealed more about the attackers' inferiority complex than it did about their supposed political cause. Obiora Ifoh does not operate on the same plane as these political scavengers. Obiora represents the backbone of a national movement, a man who has remained steadfast, articulate, and principled in the face of institutional thuggery. His attackers are the quintessential "flying bats," creatures that drift wherever the wind of state patronage blows. They mock his credentials and his service because they possess neither. They have built their entire political identity on being Otti loyalists, proving that, for them, the party is not an ideology but a job application. When you have no substance, you resort to insults. When you have no argument, you resort to mockery. It is the hallmark of the political midget trying to throw stones at a giant. The obsession with attacking a spokesperson is the clearest sign of a failing campaign. If their takeover of the party were legitimate, if their court victories were truly respected by the people, they would not need to spend their nights obsessing over Obiora Ifoh. But they know the truth. Their victory is a hollow, state funded construction. They are terrified because they know that despite the millions of Abia State funds poured into silencing the truth, the rank and file members of the Labour Party remain firmly behind Barrister Julius Abure. They are not just fighting a man. They are fighting the reality that their caretaker charade is nothing more than a palace coup. It is laughable to hear people who are currently auditioning for junior clerk positions in the Abia Government House try to measure themselves against a man of Obiora Ifoh’s standing. They mock the titles and the history because it reminds them of their own emptiness. While they scramble for the crumbs of Governor Otti’s favor, Obiora stands as a sentinel of the party’s constitution. They call him a flying bat, yet they are the ones currently hanging upside down in the shadows of the Government House, waiting for their next instruction from their masters. Obiora Ifoh speaks for the party. His critics only speak for their own bank accounts. Let the record show that Barrister Julius Abure remains the National Chairman of the Labour Party until the Supreme Court says otherwise. No amount of social media vitriol, no explosive press releases from government subsidized sycophants, and no amount of judicial forum shopping can change that fact. The Supreme Court is the final destination, and that is where this saga will conclude, with the exposure of those who tried to sell the party for a seat at the table. To the known and nameless attackers, keep barking. It only makes it easier for the public to distinguish between those who are building the party and those who are merely looking for a handout. Obiora Ifoh is a statesman. You are a footnote. Know the difference. The narrative that Governor Otti is rescuing the party is a convenient fairy tale designed to camouflage an attempted hostile takeover of the Labour Party. To even suggest that the path to leadership lies in bypassing the National Executive Committee and manufacturing a caretaker structure in Umuahia is an insult to the intelligence of Ndi Abia. If Otti rescued the party, then why such a frantic, high budget media blitz to drown out the voices of the party’s legitimate elected leadership that Otti himself acknowledged? True rescue operations do not require a ten million naira fine. The Labour Party has a constitution, and that constitution dictates the tenure and process for the emergence of its National Chairman. Barrister Julius Abure remains the only leader recognized by the mandates that brought this party to the national stage. Legal maneuvers at lower levels, characterized by questionable haste, do not and cannot override the fundamental right of a political party to manage its own affairs free from the influence of external political interests. The Supreme Court remains the final arbiter of our laws, and until the apex court pronounces otherwise, the current campaign to influence the court to select rather than allow the party to elect remains an assault on the democratic soul of the Labour Party. The critic of Obiora Ifoh has retreated to ad hominem attacks on credentials because he cannot win this argument on facts. Attacking a man's journey, his titles, and his service is the last refuge of those who have no substance to offer. Obiora Ifoh has consistently defended the Labour Party's integrity against those who seek to turn it into a subsidiary of a political office. If the best the Otti aligned, cruel, and ungrateful faction can muster is mockery of a spokesman, then they have already admitted that their case is hollow. What is happening in the Labour Party is a cautionary tale of institutional capture. We are witnessing an attempt to replace democratic internal processes with a monarchical model where an elected governor is now a god. The Labour Party will not allow itself to be colonized by a desperate, ungrateful Alex Otti. STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY Deregistration of ADC, others: Labour Party worst hit by Justice Peter Lifu's miscarriage of justice ... Lifu overlooked all known principles in law to favour Otti, Nenadi in his judgement against Labour Party The leadership of the Labour Party has expressed worry over the degradation of the judicial system by some members of the bench in Nigeria saying that the party is worst hit by alleged miscarriage of justice by Justice Peter Lifu. The party while condemning the recent judgement handed down by Justice Lifu against the African Democratic Congress, ADC and five other political parties notes that the jurist overlooked all known principles in law to favour Ms Nenadi Usman in his judgement in a matter brought before his court against Julius Abure and others. In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party said that all known principles in law such as the one which holds that the issues of leadership are internal affairs of the party; that no court has the powers to interprete a decision or give effect to the decision of the supreme Court; and that the doctrine of fair hearing must be adhered to, were all relegated, negated and ignored by Justice Lifu while giving judgement. The Labour Party's spokesperson said though it is quite unfortunate that Justice Lifu's illegal and embarrassing conducts have finally come to the head with his recent judgement where he ordered INEC to deregister 5 political parties, he notes that the Labour Party has been crippled and is under an existential threat by the injustice meted to it by Justice Lifu. He said, "It must be noted that apart from the deregistration of ADC and some other political parties, Justice Peter Lifu has wilfully embarked on actions capable of endangering our democracy through his judicial rascality and his continuous miscarriage of justice. We in Labour Party are worst hit by the judgement of Justice Peter Lifu." Elaborating on the Labour Party case, he said, "On the 7th of October, 2025, in suit no. FHC/ABJ/CS/ 2119/2025 filed by Senator Nenadi Usman against INEC which was on the Labour Party's national convention that was held on the 27th of March, 2024, the case was assigned to Justice J. K. Omotosho. Ordinarily, Justice Omotosho had delivered two judgements, given vent and very legal opinion on the national convention of the party. We were happy that justice will be done by Justice Omotosho. Curiously, after we have joined all the issues and filed all the papers, the matter was discontinued on the 28th of October, 2025. Another matter was then filed via suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/2262/2025 by the same parties and the same subject matter but this time, the presiding judge of the federal high courts, now assigned the matter to Justice Peter Lifu. This was our first major red flag, we suspected that something was in the offing. In any event, because we have a very good case, we decided to continue with the matter. The second red flag on Justice Lifu was that when the matter came up for hearing, on the 3rd of November, 2025, the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC filed a motion for a joinder, and raised a lot of fundamental issues that apparently negated our positions. It was very imperatives that we needed to respond to all those issues raised by the NLC. On the basis of these fresh motions, we asked for an adjournment to enable us do those responses. Justice Peter Lifu descended to the arena and insisted that the matter must go on that day. He refused all attempts for us to respond to all those issues raised by the NLC and insisted that the matter must be heard same day. He was acting like a man in hurry to conclude a task. There was no reason for him not to have allowed us to respond to the claims. It was then that we started suspecting that there must be a lot more that we cannot see. In any event, because we don't want to be unruly to the court, we decided that the matter should go on . He heard it that day and adjourned for judgment. He eventually did the hatchet job for Governor Alex Otti and Senator Nenadi Usman. We took a lot of things for granted because, we thought that having a good case, there is nothing a reasonable judge could do about that matter. We had every reason to have protested, petitioned and to have done a lot of things because Alex Otti himself had called for a meeting in Abia where he boasted and assured his people that he will get a judgment. It was all over the Internet and social media how they were celebrating even before the judgment day. It was very clear that they knew what would be the outcome of the judgment. We want to say that as at now, that judgment of the federal high court negates and it is against all known principles of law. Is it the principles of law that holds that the issues of leadership are internal affairs of the party; nor is it the principles that states that no court has the powers to interprete a decision or give effect to the decision of the supreme Court; or that the doctrine of fair hearing must be adhered to; all these are established principles of law that the Justice Lifu's judgement was against. This has no doubt brought his character and behavior to the fore. In any event, our only regret however is that this same judgement delivered by Justice Lifu was also affirmed by the court of Appeal. We believe that the Supreme Court will do justice to the matter and do the right thing, being the final court of redress." On the danger of Justice Lifu's judicial rascality, Ifoh said, "I want to say very clearly that our democracy, party politics, the rule of law, our constitution and the Electoral Act are under serious threat. It is on this basis that I want to call on the courageous judges of the Supreme Court to rise to the occasion and steer our ship of judiciary out of where it is currently headed to, because if the courts continue in this manner, it will be very clear that our democracy is heading towards destruction." NEWS RELEASE FROM THE LABOUR PARTY Beware, Obi, Supporters Destroyed Labour Party, Abure Cautions Dickson The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure has advised the Senator Seriake Dickson leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC to beware of their alliance with former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi and his ravenous supporters whose political motive is always to conquer and usurp leadership of any political party that accommodates them. Barrister Abure who noted that Senator Dickson must have leant from the Labour Party's recent trajectory said that the former governor of Bayelsa state's refusal to Obi's request to field all his supporters in the elective positions in the party was commendable and one way to check the vociferous supporters of the former Labour Party presidential candidate. In a statement, Barrister Abure said Obi, Abia state governor, Dr. Alex Otti and most of their supporters who won election under the free ticket policy of the Labour Party turned around to struggle for the leadership of the party, instead of joining hands with the leadership to build the party and by so doing, destroyed what was Nigeria's greatest opposition party. He said. "They say, history usually repeats itself. Senator Dickson and Co have seen their trajectory and learnt from what happened to us, that a lot of them after they have won and now in government turned round and were struggling with the leadership of the party. So, having leant from that, that is probably why the NDC leadership are collecting what they ought to collect upfront so that they can have the resources to manage the party. "I want to say that Obi and his followers are ingrates who will never remember the sacrifices you made for them. It is even dangerous for the leadership of the NDC to wholly hand over the elective positions to Obi and his followers. We did it in 2022/23, immediately they saw that Obi was interested in the leadership of the party, all those elected under the platform of the party simply followed Obi, forgetting all the sacrifices and suffering we made for them. They went for the structures of the party, from the ward to the national to be dissolved. "Therefore for strategic and political reasons, it is very good for Seriake Dickson not to have given Obi supporters all they needed in the NDC. He needed to bring his own people so that when the chips are down, he will also have people that will speak and defend him. "All those elected under the party, Obi took them to fight the leadership of the party. So why will Seriake Dickson and Co allow Obi to produce all the elected officers or meet all the interests of Obi, it must be balanced. They trooped into NDC with Obi hoping to occupy every space like they did in Labour Party. No leader of any political party seeing what Obi did to Labour Party, along with his followers will make that mistake again." Abure clarified that his intervention arose from people's curiosity on how he navigated the 2022/23 general election with the domineering activities of Peter Obi and his supporters without any crisis. He said that the party did a lot of sacrifices trusting that the invaders will reciprocate the gesture by supporting the party after they formed government. He said, we ensured that Obi's interests were adequately taken care of. We only looked at his body language and we obliged most of his supporters tickets. Most of the tickets were for free believing that we were investing in those persons in line with the philosophy of the party, expecting that when they win, they will bring along necessary supports that will help in the growth of the party. But ironically, when they came into power, they went after the leadership of the party. "They fell into the trap of INEC, when the commission deceived them to say that the tenure of the executive has expired. We had expected them to reject that position. Our leaders ought to have known that what was going on was a reprisal from the role the party leadership played in the 2022/23 general election. "The leaders, particularly, Peter Obi and Alex Otti decided to take over the leadership of the party. In any event, all those that we elected as we speak, up till now, all the years they have spent in the National Assembly did not make any contribution to the party, therefore people like Seriake Dickson and the leaders of the NDC are probably learning from what happened to the Labour Party." Prince Kennedy pulled a total vote of 2,944,420 via a consensus primary election. The party also released governorship candidates in 30 states. Declaring the results, in a press conference held in Abuja, the Deputy National Chairman, Dr. Ayodele Olorunfemi said the candidates emerged in accordance with the electoral act and party constitution. ACCEPTANCE SPEECH OF PRINCE KENNEDY AHANOTU AS THE LABOUR PARTY PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE FOR THE 2027 GENERAL ELECTION Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria Your Excellencies, the National Chairman, distinguished members of the National Executive Council, respected leaders of our great party, members of the press, ladies and gentlemen, My fellow Nigerians, Today, I stand before you deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in me and profoundly grateful to God Almighty for this historic moment. With a full sense of responsibility and unwavering commitment to our nation, I proudly accept the nomination of our great party, the Labour Party, as its Presidential Candidate for the 2027 General Election. I am particularly humbled that this nomination emerged through consensus. It is a demonstration of the confidence, unity, and shared vision of our great party. I do not see this consensus as a personal endorsement alone; I see it as a collective mandate to unite our party, inspire our nation, and offer Nigerians a credible alternative built on competence, integrity, and service. With this consensus comes an even greater responsibility, and I pledge never to take that trust for granted. As the Presidential Candidate of our great party, I look forward to working closely with all the candidates and other leaders and stakeholders across the federation to strengthen our party structures, deepen internal democracy, expand our grassroots presence, reconcile differences where they exist, and reposition the Labour Party as the foremost platform for national renewal, social justice, economic prosperity, and good governance. The task before us is bigger than any individual. It requires unity of purpose, mutual respect, collective sacrifice, and visionary leadership. Together, we shall build a stronger Labour Party capable of earning the confidence of Nigerians and leading our nation toward a brighter future. I also salute our National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee, the National Executive Council, state chairmen, local government and ward leaders, our elected and appointed public office holders, and the thousands of loyal party members whose sacrifices, dedication, and unwavering commitment have kept the Labour Party strong, united, and growing across Nigeria. The progress we celebrate today is a testament to your hard work and belief in the ideals of our great party. This moment is bigger than any individual. It is bigger than Prince Kennedy Ahanotu. It is about the hopes and aspirations of millions of Nigerians who believe that our nation can be greater than it is today. This nomination belongs to the workers who rises before dawn to earn an honest living. It belongs to the teacher who continues to inspire despite difficult conditions. It belongs to the healthcare professional working tirelessly to save lives. It belongs to the farmer feeding our nation, the entrepreneur creating opportunities, the student pursuing knowledge, and the countless young Nigerians youths who refuse to surrender their dreams despite the challenges they face. Above all, it belongs to every Nigerian child whose future depends on the decisions we make today. The Labour Party was founded on a simple but powerful principle: Nigeria works best when it works for everyone. As we recently commemorated Children's Day under the theme, "Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child," I believe that theme should become a national mission. We must build a Nigeria where every child has access to quality education, where every family feels secure, where every worker earns a dignified living, and where every citizen has a fair opportunity to succeed regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, social status, or geographical location. My fellow Nigerians, our nation stands at a defining moment. As Nelson Mandela once said: "It always seems impossible until it is done." Today, many may think that rebuilding Nigeria is impossible. Many may believe that our challenges are too deep and our divisions are too wide. But history teaches us that nations rise when courageous people choose hope over despair and action over excuses. The time has come to move beyond excuses. The time has come for practical solutions. The time has come to restore hope. The time has come to renew the promise of our great nation. Today, I present to you a covenant built on four pillars: 1. Economic Prosperity and Dignified Jobs Our administration will pursue policies that stimulate production rather than consumption. We will support small and medium-scale enterprises, expand access to affordable credit, promote local manufacturing, strengthen agriculture, encourage innovation, revive industries, and create an environment where businesses can thrive. Our objective is clear: to create millions of sustainable jobs and restore dignity to labour. We shall build an economy that rewards enterprise, protects workers, attracts investment, and creates opportunities for every Nigerian. 2. Quality Education and Human Capital Development No nation can rise above the quality of its education. We will invest significantly in education at all levels, improve school infrastructure, strengthen teacher training, modernize our curricula, and ensure that technology becomes a tool for learning, innovation, and economic advancement. Every Nigerian child, whether in the city or in a rural community, must have access to quality education and equal opportunities to succeed. No child will be left behind. Our young people are not merely the leaders of tomorrow; they are the builders of today. Throughout my public life, I have consistently championed the inclusion of young people in politics, governance, entrepreneurship, and nation-building because I firmly believe that no nation can reach its full potential while excluding the energy, creativity, and innovation of its youth. Today, the world is witnessing a generational shift in leadership. It is Youth O'Clock across the world. Across continents, nations are increasingly entrusting leadership responsibilities to younger generations, and the results have been remarkable. In France, a new generation of leadership demonstrated that age should never be a barrier to vision, courage, innovation, and national transformation. In Senegal, youthful leadership has energized leadership participation, inspired hope among citizens, and reinforced the belief that a nation thrives when it gives its young people a seat at the decision-making table. The lesson is clear: nations that empower their youth position themselves for greater prosperity, competitiveness, and relevance in the twenty-first century. Nigeria cannot afford to be left behind. Our youths are not asking for opportunities because of their age; they are asking for opportunities because of their abilities, talents, and contributions. They are already leading successful businesses, driving technological innovation, creating jobs, excelling in the creative economy, advancing scientific discoveries, and representing Nigeria with distinction around the world. As a proud member of this generation, I pledge to bring youthful vigour, fresh thinking, courage, passion, innovation, and a results-oriented approach to governance. Our administration will deliberately unlock the productive potential of our young people through education, technology, skills development, entrepreneurship, access to finance, and leadership opportunities. Together, we shall move Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy to a production-driven economy. We shall build a nation that produces what it consumes, exports what it produces, creates opportunities for its people, and competes confidently in the global marketplace. The future belongs to nations that empower their youth. The future belongs to nations that produce. And under our leadership, Nigeria shall be one of those nations. 3. Security, Justice and National Stability Security is the first responsibility of government. Our administration will strengthen our security institutions, improve intelligence gathering, secure our borders, protect our farmers, defend our communities, and ensure that every Nigerian can live, work, and travel without fear. We shall pursue security not merely through force, but through justice, economic opportunity, and national inclusion. Every Nigerian deserves to sleep with both eyes closed. 4. Power, Infrastructure and Industrial Development No economy can grow in darkness. We will aggressively pursue power sector reforms, decentralize electricity generation, encourage renewable energy investments, modernize transport infrastructure, and create the conditions necessary for industrial growth and economic competitiveness. Our goal is simple: power our homes, power our businesses, and power Nigeria's future. We shall build roads that connect opportunities, railways that drive commerce, and infrastructure that unlocks the enormous potential of our nation. My fellow Nigerians, This election is not merely about changing leaders; it is about changing the direction of our nation. I call on all leaders, stakeholders, and members of the Labour Party to embrace unity, reconciliation, and collective responsibility. Our strength lies not in our differences but in our shared commitment to building a stronger party and a better Nigeria. Leadership in our party should never be seen as a reward for friendship but as a responsibility earned through sacrifice, commitment, competence, and service. We must preserve and strengthen our structures across every ward, local government, and state because politics remains a game of organization, participation, and numbers. To Nigerians who have not yet made up their minds, I do not ask for your vote today. I ask first for your attention. Listen to our ideas. Examine our plans. Judge our commitment. Hold us accountable. And together, let us build the Nigeria we all deserve. I offer myself not as a ruler but as a servant of the people. Not as a beneficiary of power but as a custodian of public trust. Not as a representative of one region, one religion, or one group, but as a candidate for every Nigerian. I believe with every fibre of my being that the best days of Nigeria are still ahead of us. I am reminded of the timeless words of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe: "Show the light and the people will find the way." The Nigerian people do not lack talent. They do not lack resilience. They do not lack patriotism. What they seek is honest leadership, clear direction, and a government that places their welfare above personal interests. Together, we shall provide that leadership and chart that course. My fellow Nigerians, this election is not about one man. It is not about one political party. It is about the destiny of over two hundred million Nigerians. I have chosen hope. I have chosen service. I have chosen Nigeria. Today, I invite every Nigerian to join this movement of national renewal as we build a nation that is secure, prosperous, united, and respected among the nations of the world. History will remember this generation for the choices we make today. Let it never be said that when Nigeria called, we remained silent. STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY LABOUR PARTY DISTRIBUTES FREE FORMS, TO FIELD CANDIDATES ACROSS ALL POSITIONS A Press Conference by the National Chairman of Labour Party, Barr. Julius Abure in Abuja on Monday, the 18th of May, 2026. Gentlemen of the Press, you are welcome to this all important Press Conference by the Labour Party being the first of such after the January 21st Appeal Court judgement against our leadership. Nigerians should recall that when the court of Appeal delivered judgment on the 21st of April, 2026 on the Labour Party crisis, our leadership stated clearly that the party will be heading to the Supreme Court. I am happy to announce that we have filed our notice of appeal, and that we are waiting for the compilation of our records so that we can properly file our brief in the Supreme Court. It is pertinent at this point to put the records straight, due to the misconception that is associated with the story of Labour Party in some sections of the media, which are clearly incorrect and hugely misrepresenting the facts of the matter. What is happening to the party presently is a clear case of victimisation aftermath of the role we played in the 2023 general election. Labour Party was marked for decimation and possible annihilation but unfortunately, those who were the beneficiaries of that hugely successful political action are today the ones being used as protagonists and point men to carry out the execution of the plot against the party. It is important to note that the current leadership of the Labour Party, the Abure led executive, emerged through the National Convention held on the 27th of March, 2024 at Nnewi. All the reports from the convention as required by the law were submitted to the INEC and were all accepted, only for INEC to come up in August 2024, five months after, to say that the tenure of the executive has expired, There were no justifiable reasons for INEC's volte-face and ironically, one would have expected all those we have elected to team up with the leadership to resist INEC and confront them with the fact on ground but instead, they proceeded to set up a caretaker committee that eventually created faction in the party. In any event, we went to court and the Federal High Court by Justice Nwite stated clearly that the convention that brought our executive was in line with the law and that INEC didn't have any reason not to recognize the leadership of the party and ordered INEC to recognize the leadership of the party. The court of Appeal also affirmed the judgement of the trial court. It was this matter that Nenadi Usman and co appealed against, and the Supreme Court stated clearly that issues of leadership are an internal affairs of the party. From that time to January, 2026, we have been running the party, working closely with INEC, until on the 21st of January when Justice Peter Lifu pronounced as stated that Nenadi Usman was the chairman of the party. How he arrived at that and made that flip-flop is still surprising to us. This was what resulted in the appeal and the Court of Appeal regrettably affirmed that decision. Because of the injustice involved and because our action will enhance the legal jurisprudence in Nigeria, we want to see what the Supreme Court will say in line with what was said before and now. This is what has given us the courage to say that we are going to the Supreme Court. In any event, Labour Party under our leadership will participate FULLY in the 2027 elections. Our forms are available and aspirants have been picking forms. All our forms can be accessed in all the Labour Party social and online platforms, for free. Just download, fill them and submit to our state chairmen across the nation. While our governorship and state Houses of Assembly primaries will hold on Wednesday May 27th 2026, the House of Representatives and the Senate primaries will hold on Friday May 29th, 2026. All exercises will be through direct primaries which will take place at the Local Government headquarters of the party. A presidential candidate will emerge through a consensus arrangement on Friday May 29th, 2026 in a presidential primaries which will hold in Abuja. You may want to know why we have chosen to participate fully for this coming election in spite of the Appeal Court ruling. Of course, you are aware that for anyone to participate in a pre-election matter, you must have participated in all the processes leading to the primaries including buying of nomination forms and observation all INEC regulations. As a result, we have encouraged all our members across the country who have interest in running for elective offices to pick up the necessary form for FREE so that they can participate and be part of the process. This decision is informed by the fact that all that Nenadi Usman and co have done are purely illegal. The notice they wrote to INEC was illegal, in the sense that only NEC of a party can approve and fix dates for congresses and primaries. You will recall that they did not hold any NEC before publishing their intention to embark on congresses and primaries and INEC wrote them informing them of the illegality of their action. When they eventually called for a NEC, it never formed quorum as they alienated a significant constituents of the NEC including the state chairmen and secretaries. These chairmen and secretaries have since taken action and sacked the Nenadi executive and have also sued the executive, a matter which is still pending in the court. Everything they have done or purported to be doing is illegal because you can't put something on nothing and expect it to stand. Therefore, we expect that all they have done with respect to the nomination of candidates will be null and void. That is why our members, the true Labour Party members need to participate in the ongoing exercise and produce their candidates across Nigeria. We have therefore chosen to ensure through our Free forms initiative, to enfranchise them to participate in the coming general election and the result has been massive and encouraging. To further make some clarifications, our Free Form Initiative is in line with the philosophy and ideology of the Labour Party. This is to make partisan politics easy and affordable for those who have the capacity to win elections but may not have the huge funds to deploy into the contest. This will not be the first time that the Labour Party will be doing it. We did it in the 2022/23 general election and that was why Okada riders and palm kernel crushers won seats in the National Assembly. Also, Nigerians will recall that January this year, we had announced that our forms should be issued FREE of charge for those who will attend our mentorship programs. A party like the Labour Party should not charge an exorbitant price for their forms. We are shocked that Nenadi Usman and her fellow usurpers are strangulating aspirants with high fees. Though they are strangers to the Labour Party, we expect them to go back and learn the philosophy and ideology of the Labour Party We also need to make it very clear that a lot of misconception has been spreading, probably deliberately, that the leadership of the Labour Party requested huge sums of money from Abia state governor, Dr. Alex Otti in order to reconcile. We need to make it categorically clear that the meeting we had with His Excellency, Governor Otti was purely for reconciliation and how to forge ahead but that meeting produced no headway because the governor refused to give an inch to his earlier recalcitrant stand, insisting that all the structure of the party must be dissolved. The terms of our proposal to him are as follows. One, to share the positions in the NWC; Two, to take his governorship ticket and produce all the state House of Assembly candidates including all the candidates for House of Representatives and Senate in Abia state; and Three, to produce any other governorship, House of Representatives and Senatorial candidates in other states where he might have interest. We further conceded the offices of the National Secretary and other key national offices. But with all these sacrifices from the leadership, the Governor declined all the proposals and insisted that already all positions in the NWC have been filled, by him. While offering to us the Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Board of Trustees. At no time was the issue of money discussed. Nobody made any financial requests and nobody offered any money to anyone. We are therefore calling on all party members and supporters to disregard those fake news which sources are not too difficult to decipher. Our leadership will not rest until we recover our party from some political buccaneers and merchants who will stop at nothing until the soul of the party is completely destroyed. We believe that the Supreme Court will do justice to the matter, and until then, we will continue to carry out our responsibilities entrusted on us by the March 27, 2024 convention of the party in Nnewi.
