One wholesale site sells a set of 11 "African" baskets for as little as $2.20 a set when you buy in bulk. The page doesn't name a single maker.
Then I found one basket from the Zambian plateau, listed at $204. That listing tells you where it comes from.
Same kind of craft, very different value. One has a name and a place on it. The other has neither.
Across Africa there are people who weave, print and pattern like this every day, and most of them stay quiet about it. I want that to change.
