Imagine putting together an entire halftime show based off of one woman doing a cover of Thunderstruck on xylophone……and having it KICK TOTAL ASS!

I believe it would be a sin to not have a catalogued thread of all the finest Cilla moments. So here we go, and I will add more as I find them. Starting with the eternal classic "All Night Long" A thread to treasure 🧵

Just because he popped into my mind a quick shout out for the hugely talented JIM DALE — still with us at the ripe old age of 91.

Watching an old Doctor Who the other night, I cheered when I heard my favourite ubiquitous 1970s BBC sound effect. It' was almost the Beeb's equivalent of 'The Wilhelm Scream', as it would turn up regularly in stuff from kid's shows to sitcoms to serious TV dramas. Smashing!

The time Dolly Parton and Kermit jammed to Sly and the Family Stone. This is always how I will remember her.

The hypnotic guitar figure in “A Forest” emerged from a song The Cure had been experimenting with long before they recorded its definitive version. Producer Mike Hedges helped strip the arrangement down, creating the cold, spacious atmosphere that became central to the band’s developing sound. Released in 1980, “A Forest” came from their second album, Seventeen Seconds, and gave The Cure their first UK Top 40 single. Its repetitive structure also allowed the band to stretch it far beyond the studio recording onstage. At Belgium’s Werchter Festival on 5 July 1981, that darker, increasingly intense live approach was already transforming the song into a Cure concert staple.

New Order’s “Blue Monday” played entirely on vintage Casio instruments. Polaroids of the Pyramids cooked this one. Insanely good! via: youtube.com/watch?v=h9mm0YlM…

Vince Guaraldi was the brilliant composer and pianist behind the Peanuts cartoons. It was quite controversial to use modern jazz in a kid's cartoon, networks hated it, but introduced many kids to jazz. He was only 46 when he died in 1976, but left such a legacy!
