I'm betting NDSU head coach Tim Polasek wouldn't be surprised one bit about Steven Perez landing Freshman of the Week honors from the Mountain West.

Wyoming LB Steven Perez was named the Mountain West freshman of the week Monday.
It marked the third consecutive week a Cowboys player was honored by the conference.
Perez led UW with 17 tackles in a 28-14 win over Air Force last Friday. It was the most tackles in a game for the Pokes since Chad Muma had 17 against Utah State in 2021.
Perez added a fumble recovery.

Steven Perez is stoically intense, the type of character you wouldn't want to bump into in a dark alley. He was a prep wrestler -- and he brings that same mentality to the gridiron.
"He's a badass, is what he is, and he plays that way."

FINAL: Wyoming 28, Air Force 14.
Another incredible performance by reigning MW offensive player of the week Tyler Hughes. 17 tackles and a fumble recovery for Steven Perez.
And guess what? Cowboys are 4-1 in conference play going into the bye week. They’re also riding a 3-game winning streak. Oh, and they’re now 2-0 in the Coal Blacks.

"He plays the game the right way."
Steven Perez wrestled at 130 pounds as a high school freshman. He's now playing linebacker at 230 pounds for Wyoming football.
Don’t get in his way if he’s running right toward you.
