So this happened today: 1mo ago, Reagan came to us w/ a Dx of CRPS and hadn’t put weight on her R foot in over a month. Yesterday she made her cheerleading team. Today, she graduated PT. I promised I would do a choreographed cheer with her. So for your viewing pleasure 🙃😅

I have a 21 yo student. Their professor performed an evaluation on them as part of a lab experience. They told them their hips were “so bad they would need a hip replacement by their 30s” It’s 2026. Two Thousand Twenty Six Anno Domini. Schools need to start paying CIs😅🙃

I had a patient today with hip pain. Did a few sessions of PT at local hospital. While I was reviewing some basic hip exercises, I said “you’ve probably done these…” They go “oh I never really moved my hips…they just had me doing gas pedals and rolling my ankles..”

Leaving 10 minutes early to be able to take the back roads to work and stop and enjoy some coffee was a solid choice. Elite Fall Views in NE Ohio today.

Spooky SZN Story: I was reading a script for PT for a patient who is 4 weeks s/p ACDF. It requested “cervical traction” as part of the protocol. And while I laughed at the general absurdity of that. I also thought “I bet there’s a lot of PTs out there who would just do it”

Technical knowledge and skills are important to possess. The more you have the better. Creative thought and skills are what help you apply that technical knowledge to fluid situations. It doesn’t matter how much you know if you can’t implement it across multiple mediums.
Every single AI post/flyer is the exact same. Same “edgy” font. Same “bold” colors. Same caricatures. Same layouts. Same generic cringe catchphrases Yet, Everyone seems to think it will usher in some higher level of thinking. Can I interest you in a beach front home in Iowa?

Was working with a patient who works for a company contracted by CMS to do audits. They asked if I would ever be interested in doing prn work. They pay $100/hr. I had to choke out a line about how being a clinician is more important to me. Which it is. But fuck this system…

Unpopular opinion: Most people in healthcare who claim burnout fall into 1 of 3 categories: 1. Not able to stand up for their license/themselves. 2. Not capable of handling the demands of healthcare 3. Went into healthcare for financial stability. Not altruism. All fixable.

Addendum: Yes, the system is broken. Yes, it makes it harder to keep people who deeply care about it involved. Yes, we have to fix it. But if you’re out after <10yrs, It’s a slightly deeper issue than the “systemic” problems.
