This got me ngl 😭
We lost one of the greats of stage and screen today. And, in my book, a tremendous friend and man. I learned so much from him. I will miss you, Patrick Stewart, all of my days. @mang0ld
Was this podcast necessary? Probably not. But, there were some clarifications that I appreciated hearing and hopefully it’s the truth.
James Gunn confirms casting of the DCU Batman "isn't very far" and hints he will be close in age to Superman
"I'm gonna get everyone into account. One of the things that excites me is.. being able to pick a Batman who's actually the best actor"

All of us at Marvel Studios are deeply saddened by the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart. Sir Patrick brought Professor Charles Xavier to life with extraordinary grace, intelligence, and humanity, defining the character for generations of fans, from "X-Men" to "Logan" to "Avengers: Doomsday." He was a singular talent, a generous collaborator, and a true gentleman. Our hearts go out to his wife Sunny, his children, his friends, and the countless fans around the world whose lives he touched with his art.

Bruce climbing out of the pit in The Dark Knight Rises is one of those scenes I can replay endlessly. The chanting, the silence before the jump, the bats exploding around him when he finally makes it. Nolan knew exactly how to make it feel mythic.

SENSE AND SENSIBILITY is splendid! Modern yet feels faithful to the source material in its retelling all thanks to an incredible Daisy Edgar-Jones, per usual, and a remarkable discovery in Esme Creed-Miles. Loved the production design! For the yearners indeed. Wonderful surprise!

Caleb Wilson was asked on a podcast what he wants the city of Chicago to know.
He answered with four things.

The Dark Knight is one of those rare blockbusters where almost everything works at the highest level. The performances, pacing, score, action and moral conflict all keep escalating until the final scene.

There are visuals in this trailer that won’t leave my brain anytime soon

High drama, with some of the best work yet from our biggest movie stars. Visual spectacle, with legitimately flawless effects and jaw-dropping craft in every shot.
DUNE is why we go to the movies, cranked to 11. You don’t need $1B box office or an Oscar sweep to qualify that.

#LaBolaNegra is epic to say the least! Immsensely hard not to be swept away by its ambition. I found myself more captivated by the excellent craftsmanship on display over the grand storytelling but, still a memorable experience and a clear across-the-board Oscars contender!

I'm usually not a fan of Laika's films; admire the animation from them but that's about it. However, I agree with @NickZednik with #Wildwood. It had great animation, an engaging story, and a surprisingly good score by Dario Marianelli. See it on the big screen!
#Wildwood is the definition of animation is cinema! They really don’t make ‘em quite as often as this! As epic as it is emotional filled with incredible fantasy wonder and a third act that delivers some of the best battle sequences I’ve seen period. Gorgeous on a big screen too!

Yeah this watch cemented this with The Odyssey as the best film this year and it's not close and Carey Mulligan as Alexandra is by far the best villain in years. She's given enough sympathy to care and understand her reason for why she is doing what she does but she's also a hateful character for the same reasons. Just masterful writing for her and the whole film. My only complaint would probably be the parents. They just don't add anything to the movie. They're pretty useless in the script and to the situation. Kinda bad parents. Also wish we could have seen more of the governor. Kinda just there for a couple scenes.
There's plenty of films that have released that I need to see and plenty that have yet to come out but it's going to take something extraordinary to beat out this or Odyssey at this rate.

Last day at @chifilmfest
Bittersweet, I’m sad for it to end, but man, it’s been a treat.
So many great films, but even more great friends/connections. Some old, some new. Feeling very blessed.
Very thankful for the Chicago Film Community. – at Chicago, IL
