The average FBS PWO kicker is physically capable of kicking off 70-75 yards, hitting hangs of 4.0+ and making 60 yard FGs. The average FG attempt in FBS football is closer to 30 yards than it is 60, and KOs are closer to 70 yards than 80. Therefore there’s 2 standards you’re kicking against: 1) the standard to get ON the team aka the BIG LEG. 2) the standard to get ON THE FIELD once you’re on said team aka the SMALL LEG. Or, to use a golf analogy: your driver gets you noticed, your putter gets you paid.
