"Kevin Willard is a bad guy, we're here to remind him of that."
Maryland fans felt their ex-coach destroyed the program when he left 51 hours into the postseason. On his return to the DMV, some went the extra mile to show their anger.

When I asked @TerpsADJimSmith about the timing for @TerpsFootball moving on from Coach Locksley, he talked about not wanting to make "an emotional decision" and wanting to make the transition "as smooth as possible."

.@NolanRogalski asked about the decision to part with Mike Locksley days into the bye week: "There were two coaches let go, and it was immediate. So I had a little bit more time. I wanted to make sure we weren't making -- I was not making an emotional decision, and we came to the right conclusion for the program on when we announced on Wednesday"
Maryland football interim HC Aazaar Abdul-Rahim took the time to shake the hands of all the media members in the crowd before his introductory press conference.

The @UofMaryland Athletics Department has agreed to First Amendment training with FIRE after two student journalists were reported to campus police for “suspicious activity” while trying to interview @umterps football players.
Student reporters should be able to do their jobs in public spaces without fear of unnecessary police encounters.
We appreciate Maryland Athletics’ willingness to address these concerns. Public universities — including their athletic departments — have a duty to protect press freedom, not intimidate those exercising it.
For @testudotimes, @JudeWilkenfeld and I were outside Jones-Hill House trying to get players to comment. An athletics staffer took pictures of us, and a police dispatch was called for suspicious activity; a cop and 2 cop cars pulled up, and officers ID’d us and asked us to leave.
Maryland men’s basketball HC Buzz Williams, talking to @Mikephowes, really isn’t sure about whether or not coaches and reporters are supposed to ask each other how they’re doing.

EXCLUSIVE: UMD men’s basketball assistant coach Aki Collins revealed unreported details on Baba Oladotun’s signing:
“On Monday before he committed, so literally the day before he committed, he was going to Georgetown.”
Baba agreed and said he felt more comfortable at UMD.
It’s time for year two of the Buzz Williams era for Maryland men’s basketball. The Terps are debuting their 25th anniversary uniforms for media day here at Xfinity Center.

Official statement from a Maryland spokesperson on behalf of UMPD and Maryland Athletics regarding a police dispatch's interaction with Testudo Times reporters:
"UMPD was contacted today, October 21, 2026, about two individuals who were standing outside of Jones Hill House. Due to heightened concerns for staff and player safety around the football program in recent weeks, there has been increased security around athletics facilities. A UMPD officer approached the two individuals, learned they were with a campus media organization, recorded student IDs, and no report was taken.
UMPD and Maryland Athletics respect the First Amendment rights of all journalists reporting in public spaces."

Maryland football head coach Michael Locksley has been fired, according to reporting from ESPN’s Pete Thamel that was confirmed by a spokesperson from Maryland’s athletic department. Former assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim has been named as the interim head coach.
The team reportedly had a meeting in Jones-Hill House at 11:30 a.m. Several players left the facility in a seemingly positive mood. Center Michael Hershey said the players are not allowed to give any comments.

The last of the squad seems to have emptied out around 12:15. No players are willing to talk, but there’s been a lot of smiles and laughter.
Maryland football players started leaving Jones-Hill House at about 11:50 a.m., 20 minutes after a full-team meeting reportedly started. Several players declined requests for comment.
An official Maryland football spokesperson has confirmed the news. The Terps will be playing under an interim head coach for their final five games.
