#journorequest I'm also looking to speak to an accidental leasehold landlord about yesterday's Budget for @theipaper. Please email me at [email protected] if this is you or you can help. Thanks!

Well done to the amazing leaseholders of @NonQualifyingLH! Truly grateful for your tireless work on this.
@AngelaRayner better follow through.
Some welcome news from @AngelaRayner today.
Funding will be made available for collectively owned buildings, and a Govt amendment will be tabled to extend leaseholder protections from 3 to 6 properties.
Positive steps we've long called for. We look forward to seeing the detail.

🦺 The Remediation Bill will be debated in Parliament today.
Tune in from around 1pm to hear whether MPs believe it goes far enough to make homes fully safe, hold those responsible to account and protect all leaseholders.
And whether Government will listen and strengthen it…
Replying to @HouseofCommons

The Remediation Bill will be presented to Parliament today.
We’ll examine the Bill and supporting documents closely. But our serious concerns remain.
Labour must finally get a grip: make every affected home fully safe, protect all residents and leaseholders, and end the harm.

ALT Screenshot of the parliamentary listing for the Building Safety (Remediation of Unsafe Cladding etc) Bill, presented by Secretary Angela Rayner. It says the Bill covers fire safety in residential buildings, external-wall remediation and risk mitigation in taller buildings, building information, unsafe construction-product liabilities, and residential building safety and management.

The Remediation Bill is here.
We cannot support it in its current form.
Nearly a decade after Grenfell, innocent people are still paying for others’ failures.
Labour must turn words into action: make homes fully safe and hold those responsible to account.
Our statement ⬇️

Nearly 10 years after Grenfell, why is Government still debating how much fire risk residents should tolerate?
Leaving flammable cladding in place and non-cladding defects unresolved will not end this crisis.
Is it too much to ask that homes are made fully safe and sellable?
Residents fear new rules could mean dangerous cladding is left on blocks of flats bbc.in/4hUIYBx

Labour must take control of remediation, hold developers to their deadlines and make homes fully safe and sellable - whatever their height, defects or tenure.
The Remediation Bill cannot be an excuse to wait.

We met Baroness Judith Blake, the new Minister for Building Safety, today.
We told her plainly: people are still living in unsafe, unsellable homes, facing delays and costs through no fault of their own.
They need action now.

⏳ @UKLabour’s new Government brings another – perhaps last – chance to end the drift, take control and finally make homes safe.
Can leaseholders dare to hope again?
Read our latest update ⬇️

Agreed.
We appreciate Baroness Blake is new to the role but her response only repeated the same tired @mhclg lines that ignore the multiple issues and harm being caused.
This is the opposite of giving people hope that things will change, @AngelaRayner @andyburnham @KevinLee

Yes. Justice for ALL leaseholders. They are the victims. The perpetrators must be the ones who bear the responsibility and the costs.
Apols if Bill title was misleading.

Under four in ten buildings with unsafe cladding in England have been fixed, and leaseholders who did nothing wrong are paying the price.
Kath Pinnock set out her bill today to protect leaseholders in buildings of any height and make the firms responsible pay.
@KathPinnock

💯 Under this bill, ALL leaseholders (unless they are/were the developer) would be equally protected.
Regardless of building height, whether the building is enfranchised, or how many other properties a leaseholder owns. None of these exclusions would exist.
