📣It has been a busy few days in the courts! Very recently, several individuals associated with 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗥 hunts that have either been found guilty, charged, or had a plea hearing ahead of trial in relation to illegal hunting & associated offences. 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗢𝗖𝗞 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗦 Firstly, we announced that the huntsman and hunt master of the Quantock Staghounds have both been charged with illegal hunting, in relation to an incident in which a stag was killed on March 16th, 2026. 𝙃𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙨 (top, left) 𝙃𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨 𝙂𝙞𝙗𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙨 (middle, right) Watts also faces a further charge relating to a seperate incident on April 23rd, 2026. Both are due to appear at Taunton Magistrates Court on October 22nd, 2026. 𝙃𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙅𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙚𝙨 (middle, left) Marles was fined £500 and order to pay £285 in costs. 𝙏𝙤𝙢 𝘽𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙡, 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣 (top, right) terrier-man for both the Eggesford Hunt and the Spooners & West Dartmoor Hunt, was also convicted following two seperate incidents involving hunt saboteurs. Bounsall was convicted of intentional disorderly behaviour and careless driving. The driving incident occurred at an Eggesford Hunt meets and the public order offence was at a Spooners Hunt meet, in November 2025 and January 2026 respectively. He was fined £1,500 and ordered to pay a further £685 in costs and victim surcharge. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Of the above cases, the footage supplied for all the above charges have came from hunt sabs. Every move they make we'll be watching them! Hunt sabs will be out in force today stopping illegal hunting, saving lives and documenting the illegal activity of hunts. Their smokescreens are failing as more and more members of the public are becoming aware of what is really happening in the countryside. The footage captured each week by sabs continues to keep adding to the evidence that proves for over 20 years hunts have not been abiding by the law. Eggesford Huntsman Jason Marles admitted illegal hunting in Exeter Magistrates court on Wednesday September 23, 2026. The incident occurred on Boxing Day 2025, and featured in the Channel 4 investigative report by Chief Correspondent @alextomo . See link below to watch the report. Drone footage recorded by Devon County Hunt Saboteurs showed a fox being bolted from rubble on Pudson Farm near Okehampton. The video also showed two men moving piles of rubble as Marles stands waiting next to them with the hounds, once the fox is bolted the hounds then gave chase. The court heard that Marles, of the Eggesford Hunt Kennels at Chumleigh, Devon, was this week emigrating to New Zealand for the next five years. He was fined him £500 with £285 costs. More to follow. Last Monday (September 14, 2026) this hunted stag escaped the Quantock Staghounds, after members of the hunt assaulted a hunt sab causing a head injury. The hunt was so preoccupied avoiding the attending police officers who were called out to deal with the assault, that the stag managed to escape into New Ground, a League Against Cruel Sports sanctuary. Thanks to @NDHuntSabs, @mendiphuntsab and Somerset Sabs who were all present. This same hunt have recently been charged with illegal hunting in an incident which occurred in March 2026 - see our article in the link below for more. Even when hunts assault sabs, they will lose.
