Northern Rep Theatre

ALT Dive into the everyday life of a transgender male through the relatable, hilarious and brutally honest lens of a northern working class family. Whilst Jack navigates the hurdles of transition, the old family dynamics are shaken up. Will he find the courage to face his worst fears? Will he risk it all for love?! Transparency is a transformational solo theatre performance that carries us through the uncomfortable, sobering and intriguing journey of a fully human transgender life, breaking down barriers between us. "Memorable, thought provoking, humbling, inspirational." "You see things from a trans person’s perspective - we are all human and desperate to live our best lives." "It captivated me from the start until the end. Mind blowing, very emotional, powerful. I cried at least 6 times!" Written and performed by local artist Jaden Adams (he/him), this is a grounded, raw, human and radically expressive performance.

ALT When the world once knew suddenly shifts beneath our feet, and everything we have worked so hard to achieve unexpectedly slips from our grasp, is it best to go back to where it all started and see if it can be pieced back together? Or perhaps, was it all wrong to begin with? Despite the drive, the dreams and the big ambition, is it possible that, when it comes down to it, sometimes a donkey is only ever meant to be a donkey... Bright Lights City, by writer Laura Genders and directed by Tuirenn Hurstfield (produced by Northern Rep Theatre) explores the very different lives of two very different people, and how their brief encounter might irreversibly change everything for both of them. An honest and thought-provoking delve into the romanticism of nostalgia and the cold hard truths of all that it means to grow up in the modern world. Who is the tutor and who is the student in navigating these themes? And does age really trump beauty in all the wisdom that can be gained?
