Andrew Akers Announces the WCC World Title Tournament — 2 Minutes
Dasha Gonzalez introduces Andrew Akers.
Andrew enters the ring.
He takes a microphone.
Andrew Akers:
“Welcome to Vanguard Championship Wrestling.”
The crowd reacts.
“My name is Andrew Akers. I am the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vanguard Championship Wrestling, Chairman of the World Championship Council, and Chief Creative Officer of VCW.”
“But tonight isn't about me.”
“Tonight begins the process of crowning the first WCC World Champion.”
Andrew explains that thirty-two wrestlers have entered the inaugural WCC World Title Tournament.
It will be a single-elimination tournament.
The first-round pairings will be determined through a random draw.
The wrestlers do not know who they are facing until their names are selected.
Andrew also explains the basic WCC tournament rules.
First-round matches have a thirty-minute time limit.
Matches can end by pinfall, submission, count-out, or disqualification.
If a match ends without a clear winner because of unusual circumstances, the World Championship Council will review the situation and determine who advances.
Andrew:
“And I'm not standing here tonight and giving you the entire bracket.”
“You find out when they find out.”
Andrew walks over to the tournament draw.
He reaches inside.

Matt Hardy on Tony Khan when Bray Wyatt passed away. What great human beings all around.
“Also a big shout out to Tony (Khan). He took care of everybody really good. He sent a jet down there and carried all the AEW talent up to TV in Indianapolis, and I was very grateful for that and definitely appreciated him. Once again, just showing how good hearted of a human being he is. He really made it work out so that everyone that wanted to attend could attend.”

We only get brief glimpses of him.
Barnabas talks cryptically about sickness.
Something spreading unnoticed.
Footsteps can be heard.
Two figures slowly emerge from the darkness.
THE OUTBREAK
They begin walking toward the camera.
Barnabas:
“You won't know you're infected… until it's already inside.”
The picture distorts.

The screen goes black.
Barnabas' wicked laugh continues for several seconds.
Back at commentary, Kevin Kelly looks confused.

“What the hell was that?”
Brian Zane:
“I was hoping one of you knew.”

Kairi vs. Chantal Jordan
Time: 11 Minutes
The match has a completely different pace from everything else on the show.
Fast.
Athletic.
Technical.
High-energy.
Chantal surprises Kairi immediately with her speed.
Rather than dominating, Kairi has to adjust.
Veda Scott explains that Chantal is facing one of the most accomplished wrestlers on the VCW roster and has an opportunity to change people's perception of her even without winning.
Chantal becomes increasingly confident as the match continues.
Late in the match, she catches Kairi with a major near fall.
The crowd believes for a moment that Chantal may have pulled off the upset.
Kairi survives.
Chantal makes one mistake while trying to immediately follow up.
Kairi capitalizes.
Kairi hits her finish.
Winner: Kairi — 11:00
Kairi celebrates.
Chantal sits against the ropes, disappointed.
Kairi looks back at her.
She gives Chantal a small nod of respect.
Nothing more.
Kevin Kelly:
“Kairi won the match. But Chantal Jordan just introduced herself to a whole lot of people tonight.”

BACKSTAGE — CATERING — 2 MINUTES
Andrew Akers is standing in catering preparing a plate of food.
Alyssa Marino approaches him.
Andrew notices her coming.
Alyssa:
“Enjoying yourself?”
Andrew:
“I've been here since six this morning. I'm trying.”
Alyssa:
“We still need the last tournament drawing for tonight.”
Andrew looks down at his plate.
He looks at Alyssa.
He looks back at the plate.
He sighs.
“Of course we do.”
Andrew puts the plate down.
A member of the production crew brings over the tournament draw.
Several wrestlers sitting around catering begin watching.
Andrew reaches inside.
ILJA DRAGUNOV
A reaction runs through the room.
Andrew reaches inside again.
JAMES STORM
Across catering, James Storm immediately stands up.
Storm:
“Well, hell.”
Storm grabs his gear bag and starts walking toward the locker room.
Brian Zane:
“James Storm was apparently hoping to finish dinner first.”
Veda:
“Against Ilja Dragunov, dinner might've been the safer option.”

MAIN EVENT
WCC World Title Tournament — First Round
Ilja Dragunov vs. James Storm
Time: 10 Minutes
The match starts slower than expected.
Storm knows that trying to match Ilja's pace immediately would be a mistake.
He uses his experience.
He forces Dragunov to chase him.
He controls positioning.
Storm lands several heavy strikes and repeatedly frustrates Ilja.
Dragunov begins increasing the pressure.
Storm keeps finding answers.
The match becomes increasingly physical.
Storm gets a strong near fall.
Dragunov survives.
As the match continues, Storm begins breathing harder.
His mind still knows exactly what to do.
His body simply cannot maintain Dragunov's pace.
Kevin Kelly emphasizes that Storm isn't being outclassed.
He is being forced into a pace that favors the younger, relentless Dragunov.
Storm gets one final major burst of offense.
Another near fall.
Ilja kicks out.
Storm tries to immediately follow up.
Dragunov explodes.
A brutal finishing sequence ends the match.
Winner: Ilja Dragunov — 10:00
Ilja advances in the tournament.
James Storm slowly sits up.
Ilja looks down at him.
Storm looks back.
Dragunov gives him a small nod.
Storm returns it.
No attack.
No angle.
Ilja celebrates.

Andrew closes his eyes.
“The draw.”
A production assistant brings over the tournament container.
Kevin Kelly:
“Wait a minute. Are we getting another matchup?”
Andrew:
“This one isn't happening tonight.”
He reaches inside.
JEFF COBB
The audience reacts loudly.
Veda Scott:
“Oh boy.”
Andrew reaches inside one more time.
DAMIAN CHAMBERS
Andrew looks toward the camera.
“Next week on VCW: Front Line — Jeff Cobb versus Damian Chambers in the opening round of the WCC World Title Tournament.”
Kevin Kelly:
“Jeff Cobb! Damian Chambers! Next week on Front Line!”
Andrew hands the names back to Alyssa.
He starts walking away.
Alyssa:
“Now you can eat.”
Without turning around:
Andrew:
“Thank you.”
The camera returns to Kevin Kelly, Veda Scott and Brian Zane.
They quickly recap the night.

WCC WORLD TITLE TOURNAMENT — FIRST ROUND
Aleister Black w/ Xelina vs. Carlito
Time: 8 Minutes
Carlito initially relies heavily on his experience.
He avoids Black's striking range.
He rolls outside.
He forces Black to slow down and tries to make Aleister wrestle at Carlito's pace.
For several minutes, the strategy works.
Then Black begins finding his range.
A series of increasingly violent kicks changes the direction of the match.
Carlito gets one strong comeback and briefly appears to have Black in trouble.
Black shuts it down.
A sudden finishing sequence ends with Aleister Black putting Carlito away decisively.
Winner: Aleister Black — 8:00
Aleister Black becomes the first wrestler to advance in the WCC World Title Tournament.

BACKSTAGE — 1 MINUTE 30 SECONDS
Alyssa Attempts to Interview Aleister Black
Alyssa Marino waits near the entrance curtain as Aleister Black and Xelina return backstage.
Alyssa steps forward.
Alyssa:
“Aleister, you've just become the first man to advance in the WCC World Title Tournament—”
Black walks straight past her without saying a word.
Alyssa watches him leave.
Xelina stops.
She looks toward Black and then turns back toward Alyssa.
Xelina explains that Aleister doesn't need to explain what everyone just watched.
Carlito talked about his years of experience.
Carlito talked about everything he had accomplished.
Aleister Black beat him in eight minutes.
Xelina:
“If the other thirty men in this tournament weren't paying attention before, they are now.”
Xelina walks away.
