I’ve no idea if the accusation Isak didn’t want us to qualify in the CL is true and ultimately, it didn’t matter in the end as he scored the pens that came his way that got us there at the end of the season. What was clear though was he was either playing with an injury or not trying as much for the team. Maybe both. Maybe neither. But his behaviour and desperation to move suggests that he wasn’t trying that hard, as there’s been 0 mention by him or anyone else of recovering from an injury that limited him for a large part of last season. Something clearly wasn’t right with him and we did quite a big part on our post Ipswich pod at the end of April as he pretty much didn’t move all game. The only explanation we could come to was that he absolutely had to be carrying an injury that would maybe need surgery post season. The facts are that post cup final his form nosedived and he stopped running in games. He was taken off before the 80th min in 7 PL consecutive fixtures, including games we were chasing a winner (Brentford being the most obvious and strangest at the time). If all of the above is a headloss then so be it, but NUFC fans were taking about his form and (lack of) effort in games before it was clear he was desperate to be off. Anyway, can’t wait to see the new lads play against Wolves and Barcelona. It’s a great time to be an NUFC fan.

Yoane Wissa generated more non-penalty xG than Alexander Isak last season.

Remarkable that Newcastle United's opening offer to Brentford for Yoane Wissa was £25m and they end up paying £55m. Not sure I can recall a deal like that where the fee has more than doubled?

NUFC lose. Isak & Liverpool win. Simple as that. Newcastle had little choice, in reality, but to do a deal, as it became an untenable situation. A bad smell that would have lingered all season. The money is good, as a trade off - not game-changing, due to sell on % and other factors - but good. The timing poor. While choice was forced from them in selling, they definitely DO have a choice about signing a striker today. And must. That has to be a non-negotiable. If they don't - and varying levels of responsibility and decision-making for this filters from the top right down to Eddie Howe - they're letting the current crop of players down. Their incoming business, while very expensive, has looked positive so far, none more so than the capture of Nick Woltemade to clearly fill Isak's void. However, expecting a young lad, with only a true half season of top level, regular experience under his belt, no PL appearances, fresh through the door, to carry the scoring and creative burden of the whole XI across three competitions, all the way to at least January, is irresponsible. In fact, it's lunacy. Isak is gone. It had to happen. And while his talents are a loss, it won't be mourned as it may once have been. The real challenge now is ensuring Woltemade is not forced to play midweek, weekend, week after week - which happened to Isak at times - from now to the winter. NUFC cannot continue the season with one striker - another has to be signed. The clock is ticking. And it feels definitive.

I’m told this evening that it’s £130m or no deal. Let’s see what Liverpool come up with. Imagine if PIF sell him for less 😬 #nufc #LFC

As things stand, on Saturday afternoon, at 1544, there are no talks taking place between Newcastle and Liverpool regarding Alexander Isak. No bids have been made let alone accepted. Two and a half more days to go until deadline #nufc #lfc

This is brilliant. A MUST LISTEN. Sky Andrew is an agent who knows what he's talking about. Don't buy into anyone spinning or trying to defend Alexander Isak. 👇 #nufc

🤓 EXPLAINED: Why Alexander Isak can't even jump the most fundamental hurdles to utilise FIFA's transfer rules this season The FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) include: 1⃣Art. 1 governs the "transfer between clubs belonging to different associations" 2⃣Art. 16 explicitly states "a contract cannot be unilaterally terminated during a competition period" (the period starting with the first official match of the national league championship) 3⃣Art. 22 gives FIFA jurisdiction where there is an international element unless the parties "opt in writing for such disputes to be decided by a national dispute resolution chamber .... directly in the contract" which the PL contracts expressly do All of these provisions serve to block any possibility of Isak making a move to exploit Article 17 even if he ultimately wanted to move to a non-English team. PS don't reply with some Ai slop❌ More explanation in the article in the thread

If you are reading Newcastle's statement tonight and still think there is a chance Alexander Isak will be joining Liverpool this summer, good luck to you. You're going to need it. I've been trying to tell you all summer what the situation was. Some of you didn't want to listen #nufc #LFC

Alexander Isak made his intentions clear days ago. Why do you think he’s not training with the group or playing. He has also not said a thing publicly about his intentions and has not handed in an official transfer request. Why hasn’t he done that? Club continue to insist he’s not for sale. More to follow no doubt #nufc #lfc
