My 2 cents for anyone who needs it today. If you are happy, excited, celebrating. Embrace it. It only lasts so long. If you are upset, sad, struggling, frustrated. Don't fuss too much about it. It shall pass. The only good thing about life is, it doesn't stop until the very end.

Part 7..If anyone really is against the caste system, then all forms of participation in any way or form of caste based rituals should be excused. If not for yourself, do it for the next generation. #castesystem

Part 6..People might argue a thread ceremony is not harming anyone, it is keeping old age traditions alive, involves good food, family gatherings. But hidden under this table of good food and gaudy ceremonies is the system we are trying to get rid off. #castesystem

Part 5..For the caste system to be abolished, only talking about acceptance of Dalits in the society is not enough. For caste system to be over it takes more than that, takes to not participate in any form of caste based ceremonies or rituals - good or bad. #castesystem

Part 4..But I stuck around through all the days of the ceremony struggling with my thoughts and what I was witnessing around me. I took sometime to string my thoughts and arrived at this post. The 'abolished' caste system in India is honestly hardly abolished. #castesystem

Part 3..(Caste - the structure of which imposes hierarchy, discrimination). I started feeling this uneasiness soon after I arrived there. Why was I there? What are we celebrating even? Where did this ritual stem from? #castesystem

Part 2..spoke about equality, non-discrimination, modern ideologies & liberal thought processes. Ironically, these very same people happily participated in a ceremony based on Caste, harped about brahmin superiority, boasted about following all the brahmin rituals #castesystem

I recently attended a thread ceremony (primarily meant to be partaken by Brahmin boys). In attendance and participation were educated members of society, who as per their insta posts, facebook posts, small talk and conversations over lunch.. #castesystem
