I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
I genuinely don’t get how people find iPhone Duo ugly just because of the asymmetrical design.
In my opinion it makes it look even more like a distinctive, intentional and carefully engineered device.
It is a highly articulated design on a great base idea.

Superiority complex is tied to inferiority complex. You want to feel superior because you feel inferior.

🦔AI companies are bulk-buying rare books, scanning them through high-speed machines that cut the spines off, and shredding the originals. A service called ISBNdb facilitates orders of up to a million books and keeps buyers anonymous. Pre-2022 books are premium because they're free of AI-generated text. A federal judge ruled the practice is fair use because eliminating the original means only one copy exists at a time. Anthropic hired the former head of Google Books partnerships to obtain "all the books in the world."
My Take
This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email.
ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation."
I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate.
"We shred rare books and offer NDAs so nobody finds out" is a legitimate business model in 2026. What a timeline.

Egyptian activists are circulating this image of the terrorist who was present at the execution scene of the female Kurdish fighter.
According to these activists, he is the Egyptian national, Ahmed Al-Mansouri, wanted by Egyptian security services.
What is beyond dispute is the bigger picture: Syria has become a playground for foreign jihadists, where execution-style violence is filmed and celebrated, while Western and regional backers pretend this is a “new state” bringing stability.

I love Tom Barrack - decentralisation doesn’t work in Iraq, while it was and is decentralisation that prevents Iraq from becoming a permanent civil war zone.
The KRG is the most advanced and most stable region in the entirety of Iraq, even beyond its borders - the KRG is far more advanced than 3 out of 4 of its neighbours.
The UAE as a federal state, being a small country, stands stronger than many of its centralised neighbours - fossil fuels was the catalyst but nowadays the UAE is dominating the Middle East.
Look at their centralised neighbours, KSA is drying up; building cities in the desert, cancelling their construction months after starting it.
Oman balancing between stability and civil war, Yemen has been in a permanent state of civil war for decades.
Centralised Iran is slowly dying.
Syria is not an exception to a fate that befalls every other country in the Middle East.
„Decentralisation and Federalism“ have become buzz words in the Syrian affair in any case - Aleppo is ruled by Turkey, Damascus and Idlib by Jolani; Homs by Turkey - The rest of Syria is already split into governorates.
It has become a buzzword, the Syrian thinks that they are fighting against decentralisation while already decentralised.
We wouldn’t even have that discussion if the Syrian Government under Jolani would’ve just granted the minorities in Syria equal rights.
Instead the STG tried to utilise this issue and created the narrative that it is something hostile and an attack on Syrian sovereignty to consolidate its power; which has failed.
Alienating 3 out of the 4 biggest minorities in Syria while doing so.
At the same time it opened the door for Israel to enter Syria, becoming the biggest problem for Syria under Jolani.
Well well - decentralisation indeed doesn’t work, the evidence is overwhelming. All these nations he gave as an example.
But it goes both ways - centralised Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Yemen, KSA, Afghanistan, Oman - and I’m not even looking at the countries in North Africa..
What works? Democracy.
Freedom of speech and rule of law.

Apple is more like a cult. Each time a material is named holy - evangelists start explaining to people why it’s aviation aluminum, medical stainless steel, space grade titanium and so on. Optical zoom is 2x, 3x, 5x than 4x and there is always explanation why it’s a progress
I’m honestly very disappointed by the so-called tech community blindly praising Apple’s marketing materials and spreading misinformation about iPhone Air.
