One thing people get WRONG about Community Management: A good CM is not supposed to keep everyone happy. Read that again. There's a difference between making members feel valued and trying to please everyone. In Web3, you'll encounter different personalities: - Members who constantly complain. - Members who disagree with almost every decision. - Members who expect instant responses. - Members who mistake access to a CM for access to unlimited attention. - And members who genuinely want to help the community grow. If you try to satisfy everybody, you'll eventually lose control of the community. So, what should a good Community Manager actually do? 1. Learn to set boundaries. Being approachable doesn't mean being available for every demand, at every hour. 2. Understand the difference between criticism and toxicity. Not every negative comment is FUD. Some criticism exposes genuine problems the team needs to address. 3. Enforce rules fairly. Your favourite community member shouldn't get special treatment when they break the rules. 4. Don't make promises on behalf of the team. If you don't have confirmed information, communicate honestly instead of giving members false hope. 5. Protect the community without silencing it. A healthy community should allow questions, disagreements and constructive criticism without becoming a hostile environment. Here's what I believe: A Community Manager isn't there to win a popularity contest. You're there to create an environment where people can interact, contribute, disagree respectfully and grow together. Being liked is nice. Being trusted and respected is much more important.
