Are we helping kidsโฆ or teaching them to run from hard things?
I see this all the time in schools.
A student has a problem with a teacher, coach, classmate, or situation, and too often the first response is to remove the problem.
Switch the class.
Quit the team.
Avoid the conversation.
Have the parent step in and fix it.
I understand the instinct. We donโt want to see our kids struggle.
But Dr. Becky Kennedy said something powerful:
โThe more you optimize for happiness in childhood, the more you actually wire for anxiety in adulthood.โ
Kids need to learn that disappointment is survivable.
Conflict is survivable.
Failure is survivable.
Being uncomfortable is survivable.
Sometimes the best thing we can do for kids isnโt remove the hard thing.
Itโs help them learn how to walk through it.

Pat Summitt said, "Too many people opt out and never discover their own abilities because they fear failure."
Fear of failure can be paralyzing. You stop:
- Risking.
- Reaching.
- Becoming who you could be.
Here's how to reframe failure - and take back control:๐

โI care less about mistakes and I care more about responses. I donโt care about the mistake that got us there. I care about what weโre going to do next. We talk a lot about mental strength and mental fortitude and the skills that go into that. Theyโre able to be themselves,โ Jamie Morrison
