Matchday 10: Attacking Football Rewarded at Dunley Way Lutterworth Town Reserves 5 - 2 Barrow Town Reserves Leicestershire Senior Division Two Saturday 17 October 2026 Dunley Way After last week's disappointment, Lutterworth Town Reserves responded in emphatic fashion with a deserved 5-2 victory over Barrow Town Reserves. The scoreline reflected Town's dominance for much of the afternoon, with attacking football, relentless energy, and some excellent individual performances ensuring all three points remained at Dunley Way. Manager Jordon Small made two changes to the side that narrowly lost at Rothley Imperial. Joe Dawson returned to the starting line-up in place of the rested Mark Warren, while debutant Omotolani "Josh" Adeleye was handed his first start on the right wing. Town could hardly have wished for a better start. Just two minutes into the contest, Adeleye burst down the right-hand side and drilled a dangerous ball across the face of goal. The Barrow goalkeeper missed the delivery entirely, allowing Kiran Bounds to arrive at the far post and tuck home from close range to give the Swifts an early lead. The home side continued to play on the front foot. Dawson nearly doubled the advantage moments later with a fierce strike from 20 yards that flashed inches past the post, while Town's movement and passing caused Barrow constant problems during an excellent opening quarter. Further chances followed as Bounds forced a fine save from the goalkeeper after another flowing move, before Pele Molyneaux saw a speculative effort from distance drift narrowly over the crossbar. Molyneaux then went even closer when an effort was cleared off the line as Town continued to dominate possession and territory. Despite their superiority, Town were dealt a setback after 25 minutes. A defensive mistake allowed Barrow's forward to break clear and slot home an equaliser completely against the run of play. The goal briefly rattled the hosts and nearly led to a second concession shortly afterwards. Town regained control quickly and continued to create opportunities. Dawson fired a dangerous cross-shot narrowly wide before Rhys Roberts delivered an excellent ball into the box that Molyneaux unfortunately lifted over the bar. At the other end, goalkeeper Callum Parmar produced an excellent save low to his left to deny Barrow from a free-kick. The home side's attacking intent never wavered. Josh Adeleye produced a dazzling run through midfield before releasing Roberts, whose shot drifted wide, while Sam Smith and Luke Shaw both supplied quality crosses that nearly resulted in goals for Molyneaux. Town finally regained their lead on the stroke of half-time. Following a corner from Roberts, the ball ricocheted across the six-yard box before Adeleye reacted quickest to force the ball home and cap an impressive debut display with his first goal for the club. Leading 2-1 at the break, Town started the second half with the same intensity. Their reward arrived just four minutes after the restart when Roberts showed tremendous determination to win possession before producing a superb pass into Adeleye. The striker calmly finished into the bottom corner to make it 3-1. Molyneaux was at the heart of much of Town's best work throughout the afternoon. Although he had yet to find the scoresheet himself, his movement, link play and willingness to run the channels continually stretched the Barrow defence. A change saw Tinashe Daire replace Dan Goss on 62 minutes, but Town's control was momentarily undermined when another defensive error gifted Barrow a route back into the game on 69 minutes. Despite being second-best for long periods, the visitors reduced the deficit to 3-2. Any thoughts of a comeback were quickly extinguished. Young goalkeeper, Callum Parmar had relatively little to do all afternoon but remained alert when called upon. His excellent save from a first-half free-kick and decisive second-half intervention helped prevent Barrow building any momentum. After excellent goalkeeping from Parmar, who raced from his line to make an important intervention, Town immediately broke forward. Bounds drove into the penalty area and was brought down, leaving Roberts to confidently convert the resulting penalty and restore the two-goal cushion. Three minutes later, Roberts was involved again. The midfielder delivered another perfectly weighted ball in behind the defence, recording his 13th assist of the season, and Molyneaux finally got the goal his performance deserved with a composed finish to make it 5-2. The final stages saw Town comfortably manage the game, with additional substitutions introducing Dan Rai, Cameron Roberts and Bernard Appiah as the hosts secured an important victory that reflected their overall dominance. Omotolani Adeleye (Josh) had a dream debut for the Ressies. Two goals, an assist after just two minutes, relentless running, direct attacking play and a constant threat throughout. Barrow struggled to cope with his pace and energy all afternoon, making this a debut to remember. Rhys Roberts was at the heart of much of Town's positive play, turning in a good all-round display. The attacking midfielder registered a goal and three assists, repeatedly finding space, dictating the tempo and creating chances throughout the afternoon. His delivery from set-pieces caused constant problems, while his vision and quality in possession helped unlock the Barrow defence time and again. Whether driving Town forward from midfield or providing the decisive final ball, Roberts was instrumental in the Swifts' attacking success and played a major role in securing the three points. After the frustration of last week, this was an excellent response. Five goals, countless chances and some outstanding attacking football ensured Town returned to winning ways in style. Attendance: 33 Goals: Bounds (2), Adeleye (45, 49), Roberts (76 - pen), Molyneaux (78)
