Apparently #BLM. Why? Does any life have value? Does it change? How? How does one trade off #lives (eg old & young). Do #animal lives have value?

The same countries that lecture Serbia about democracy and human rights are the ones that:
- Bombed us in 1999
- Recognized Kosovo against international law
- Sanction us for defending our sovereignty
And they wonder why we don't trust them.
But here's what really gets me: these same countries have their own separatist movements and land disputes right now.
Let's start with Cyprus. An EU member state has been split in half since 1974. Turkey invaded and occupied the northern third of the island. Created the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" - recognized by exactly one country: Turkey. The rest of the world, including the entire EU, calls it occupied territory.
Cyprus has been divided for 50 years. The EU calls it "occupied" and refuses to recognize Northern Cyprus. They negotiate carefully. They talk about patience and dialogue. "Both sides have legitimate concerns." "We need time." "It's complicated."
Why the gentle approach? Because Turkey has the second largest military in NATO. Over 400,000 active troops. Controls the Bosphorus Strait. Sits on Russia's southern border. They need Turkey in their alliance more than they care about Cyprus being whole.
So they tolerate the occupation. They don't bomb Ankara. They don't sanction Turkish leaders. They just quietly accept that some territorial disputes are "complicated" when the occupier is strategically useful.
But Kosovo? They recognized it in weeks. Called it self-determination. Sent NATO to make it happen.
Spain has Catalonia trying to break away. UK had Scotland vote on independence twice and still manages Northern Ireland tensions. France deals with Corsica. Italy handles northern separatism. Basque Country spans both France and Spain.
How do Western countries treat their own territorial disputes? Very, very carefully.
They inject money. They deploy NGOs. They negotiate endlessly. They do everything possible to keep those fires from spreading and exposing cracks in their own unity.
When it's their borders, self-determination suddenly becomes "complicated." Constitutional concerns matter. Stability is important. We need dialogue and patience.
But when Yugoslavia was falling apart? They backed every separatist movement. They armed them. They bombed us for 78 days for trying to hold our country together. They recognized Kosovo before the smoke cleared.
It's one thing to support a neutral country falling apart when you're watching from a distance. When it's someone else's land. Someone else's people. Someone else's history being erased.
But touch their borders? Suddenly they're very quiet. Very careful. Very diplomatic.
The hypocrisy isn't even hidden. It's policy.

To be fair, it was the former Nazi German Foreign Minister at the time who most encouraged the Croatians to do it, even encouraging them to seize land they were minded to cede to the Serbians. It looked strangely like revenge for Serbian resistance to the Germans in WW2 (likewise Germany’s treatment of Greece in the financial crisis). The supine Brits went along with the Germans just to get an ‘opt out’ from the EU ‘Social Chapter’.

"in the interest of peace." What a warmongering monster!
In yesterday’s SOTEU speech, I made clear that the EU must continue applying pressure on Russia, taking every possible step to weaken its war machine.
The adoption of the Graham Bill by the US House of Representatives sends a clear message.
My friend, Senator Graham, strongly believed targeted and coordinated action on both sides of the Atlantic could make the difference in ending the war.
I hope this important opportunity is seized, in the interest of peace.
Recently, a Journal of Controversial ideas paper sparked a hostile reaction on X, including against Singer who, as editor, merely posted it, w/o endorsement. My forthcoming JCI paper responds to both the author & those who reacted: philpapers.org/rec/ARAOTT-2

A few days before my address to the European Parliament, Volodymyr Zelenskyy—my former boss—imposed sanctions on me. Sanctions against Ukrainian citizens are unconstitutional, just like many of Zelenskyy’s other decisions. Volodymyr Zelenskyy uses them against anyone who advocates for peace in Ukraine. I knew that "high treason" charges were being prepared over my interview with Tucker Carlson, and I anticipated the possibility of sanctions. This does not change my position, nor that of millions of Ukrainians. To survive, Ukraine needs peace, not another autocracy—even if it is Zelenskyy’s autocracy.
Another proud accomplishment of the Western "Support Ukraine! Slava Ukraini!" crowd.
Press gang chased man in school yard, sprayed gas that affected young school children there & assaulted & injured female teacher during forced mobilization attempt in Dnipro in native region of Zelensky. Regional mobilization center blamed "inadequate civilians" for all this. This is reported by teachers, children, parents & Ukrainian media.

It takes a shocking amount of time for an author to make a single penny in royalties on a book - I think people would be surprised... So please, if you know anyone who likes opera, do buy them this! Thank you. 🙏

I am proud to announce that after no fewer than 5 attempts at resubmitting a paper revision that conforms to the high formatting standards of a journal, I have cleared that high bar.
