The moment I saw this costume, my mind just pictured 5 young boys holding cane around the masquerade, threatening young passersby for money or get whipped.
Ikotun too traumatize me😭😭😂😂
This "pregnancy is not a death sentence" debate exposes one critical flaw that most women have, which is: personalising a generic fact, even for a trivial issue.
For example, if you say, "most women are shorter than men," without fail, you'll have a ton of women saying, "I know a girl in my family that is taller than men."
Sis, that is not the point. The point is, whether you know 4 girls in your family that are taller than men or not, on the average, most men are taller than women.
If you bring it to this pregnancy argument, I notice that, especially for women who haven't birthed a child yet, they personalise the stories of those who have encountered complications in child birth and are prone to agree with the take of "pregnancy is a death sentence."
The general statistic is irrelevant to a woman, either educated or not. They deal promordially on anecdotal evidence and that wiring skews objective evidence.
The average global child mortality rate is 200 per 100,000 pregnant women that generate complications. Or a 0.1% mortality rate.
This means that 99.9% of women that go through the path of pregnancy are delivered of successfully, globally. 99.9% is almost 100%.
Should we commiserate with those who get complications during child birth? Yes. But should we drop in mindless conclusive talks on the death sentence of a natural process? No.
Pregnancy is NOT a death sentence.

Hi @DONJAZZY, you've helped so many young Nigerians achieve their dreams, and I'm hoping this reaches you. I'm a Nigerian doctor months from finishing my MPH at NYU. I'm crowdfunding my tuition, and without $25K by Dec 14, I risk being disenrolled and losing my visa status.
Hi everyone, I’m Marvellous, some of you know me as Ini. I’m a few months from finishing my MPH at NYU. I planned for this year with a student loan and a summer internship but it didn’t come through. Then this month, MPOWER shut down. I was on their waitlist.

There's a whole new role emerging in clinical AI called Physician AI engineer. It describes a doctor who understands and builds AI systems for clinical purposes. I think the role will only get more common with time.

One of the clearest signs that a country does not truly value its healthcare system is how it treats its health workforce.
You cannot underpay them, overwork them, subject them to inhumane conditions, and then restrict their freedom to leave. ENKR
