LIYATU SAMUEL DAWA: FOURTEEN YEARS IN PRISON, RELIGIOUS FREEDOM AND THE CONSCIENCE OF A NATION My conscious ladies and gentlemen, there is a troubling case unfolding in the Kakistocratic Republic of Nigeria that deserves the attention of every citizen who believes in freedom of conscience, human dignity and justice. Liyatu Samuel Dawa, a Christian mother from Gwoza in Borno State, has reportedly been sentenced to fourteen years' imprisonment following a case involving a Muslim woman who converted to Christianity. According to published reports, the woman testified that her decision to embrace Christianity was voluntary and that she had not been coerced. Yet Liyatu is in prison, while questions remain about the precise legal basis of her conviction. One of the provisions reportedly invoked concerns the deprivation of a child's lawful parental custody, raising serious questions about its relationship to the reported circumstances of an adult woman's religious conversion. I believe the complete judgment, the evidence and the charges must be subjected to proper legal scrutiny, because no person should lose fourteen years of their freedom without a conviction firmly grounded in law and supported by evidence. Meanwhile, Nigerians have recently witnessed a disturbing video of uniformed boys chanting about obtaining AK-47 rifles and attacking Christians attending Sunday worship in Enugu and Jos. The alleged leader has since been arrested by the Zamfara State Police Command, while the organisation associated with the uniforms has condemned the threats and denied authorising the activity. These are separate cases, but they bring us to an important question about the Nigerian state's responsibility to protect religious freedom and administer justice consistently. ***** How can we claim to uphold freedom of religion if an adult's voluntary change of faith becomes the subject of criminal controversy, while children are being exposed to rhetoric that encourages violence against people because of their religious beliefs? ***** Section 38 of the Nigerian Constitution guarantees freedom of thought, conscience and religion, including the freedom to change one's beliefs and manifest them through teaching and practice. That constitutional protection must apply to Christians, Muslims, traditional worshippers and those who profess no religion. Nobody should be compelled to practise a religion, prevented from leaving one or threatened for choosing another. As a Transformative Life Coach and Advocate for Human Consciousness, I am equally concerned about what happens to families when justice is called into question. Behind Liyatu's fourteen-year sentence are loved ones who must bear the emotional, social and economic consequences of her imprisonment. I call for transparent judicial scrutiny of Liyatu Samuel Dawa's conviction, access to effective legal remedies, protection for her family against any credible threats, and a thorough investigation and lawful prosecution, where supported by evidence, of those responsible for inciting religious violence. Religious conviction should never become an excuse for intimidation, discrimination or the denial of another person's humanity. Freedom of conscience must be protected equally for every citizen. Fundamental questions about Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s continued imprisonment in Sokoto, the proscription of IPOB, freedom of expression, the right to peaceful self-determination advocacy, and the treatment of Biafran detainees, while also reminding us of the need to distinguish between the legal consequences of his conviction and the unresolved human-rights and legal controversies surrounding his extraordinary rendition from Kenya, the conduct of his trial, and the continuing pursuit of justice through lawful and peaceful means. @FCDOGovUK @HumanRightsCtte @UKParliament @KemiBadenoch #FreeNnamdiKanu #JusticeForBiafranDetainees #DeproscribeIPOB #HumanRights #FreedomOfExpression #RightToSelfDetermination #EndArbitraryDetention #JudicialAccountability #RuleOfLawNigeria #PeacefulAdvocacy #JusticeForAll #Biafra

BIAFRA MORNING INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING AND ALAIGBO AU Security Accreditation, Kanu’s Legal Challenge and Human-Rights Accountability in Focus Thursday, 29 October 2026 Nigeria’s National Counter-Terrorism Centre has been accredited by the African Union as a Regional Centre of Excellence in Counter Terrorism. That strengthens Nigeria’s role in security cooperation across West Africa and the Sahel. But greater security influence must come with greater accountability. Peaceful constitutional advocacy must remain clearly distinguished from criminal violence and terrorism. A new legal intervention has also emerged concerning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. US-based Rising Sun Foundation has offered $10,000 for a Nigerian judicial precedent addressing the legal position it disputes in relation to his conviction. The central issue concerns the effect of repealed terrorism legislation and the savings provision in the 2022 terrorism law. This is a genuine legal question. But a private financial challenge is not a court ruling. Kanu’s substantive appeal remains the proper legal forum for determining the issue. Nigeria’s Senate has meanwhile confirmed a new board for the National Human Rights Commission. The appointments come shortly after an official investigation found that 37 detainees died in Minna because of overcrowding, poor ventilation, heat, dehydration and neglect. The new board should now be judged by what it investigates and what accountability follows. On State Police, reports now suggest as many as 32 states have approved the constitutional amendment. The exact figure still requires formal reconciliation. But the constitutional threshold has already been reached. The real question is now: What safeguards will prevent State Police from becoming instruments of political power? INEC is also facing fresh scrutiny. The House of Representatives has directed Chairman Joash Amupitan to brief lawmakers within seven days on voter registration, election technology, logistics, security and funding. Across AlaIgbo: Abia- industrial development and regional institutional governance remain priorities. Imo- the state government needs to clarify reports that Imo Broadcasting Corporation has received a 72-hour demolition or vacation notice. Ebonyi- State Police planning and political-security accountability remain in focus. Anambra- St Patrick’s College, Awka, has won the South-East legislative and democracy quiz competition. Enugu- Akanu Ibiam International Airport is included in a new national biosecurity programme, while scheduled electricity maintenance will affect parts of Nsukka in early November. Today’s central lesson is straightforward: Security power requires accountability. Legal disputes require judicial determination. Elections require transparent administration. And: AlaIgbo’s future depends upon institutions capable of protecting rights while delivering security, infrastructure and economic opportunity. What Are We Trying to Silence? Alcohol and drug dependence cannot be understood solely as weak character. Behind harmful substance use may lie grief, loneliness, social pressure, trauma or a desperate search for temporary relief. Compassion does not excuse violence, neglect or deception. Equally, accountability should not require humiliation. Nigeria needs effective action against trafficking, but it also needs accessible treatment, family protection, harm reduction and opportunities for reintegration. Recovery is not simply about removing a substance. It is about rebuilding the capacity to choose, live responsibly and reconnect with life. Uchechigeme Living Is an Art. Consciousness Is the Lens. BIAFRA MORNING INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING AND ALAIGBO $100 Million Gas Project, Custodial Accountability and State Police in Focus Wednesday, 28 October 2026. A potentially major regional economic project is taking shape across AlaIgbo. An investment agreement has been signed for a proposed $100 million South-East gas-distribution network connecting industrial centres across Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Anambra and Enugu. The planned network would run approximately 400 kilometres from the Ohaji gas-producing area of Imo State. Around 150 potential customers have reportedly been identified. But the distinction matters: The agreement has been signed. The pipeline has not yet been built. Full financing, construction, customer connections and final gas prices remain to be established. Another major development concerns 37 people who died in NSCDC custody in Minna. A federal investigation has concluded that severe overcrowding, inadequate ventilation, heat, dehydration and neglect caused their deaths. Fourteen victims were reportedly minors. The committee recommended compensation and accountability. Published reports differ on the number of families and survivors covered by the recommendations, so the authenticated report is still needed to settle the figures. On State Police, Ebonyi has now joined Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Imo in approving the proposed constitutional amendment. All five AlaIgbo states now support the reform. State Police are not yet operational. The challenge now is ensuring any future force has strong safeguards against political abuse. The South-East Traditional Rulers Council has also renewed its call for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release. That is an important regional intervention, but it is not a court ruling. Kanu’s substantive appeal remains the principal legal mechanism challenging his conviction. Meanwhile, President Tinubu is seeking parliamentary approval for approximately $21.7 billion in additional external borrowing. The request has not yet been approved. The key question is what projects will be financed and what repayment obligations future Nigerians will carry. And nationally, the death toll from the Binnari attack in Taraba has risen to at least 62, according to the National Emergency Management Agency. Today’s central lesson is clear: Regional development requires delivery. Police decentralisation requires accountability. Detention requires protection of life. Borrowing requires transparency. And: AlaIgbo’s future depends not only on political aspiration, but on institutions capable of delivering energy, justice, security and sustainable economic development. Judicial Integrity in Nigeria: When Will Warnings Translate into Accountability? Chief Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun’s recent warning against judicial manipulation, forum shopping and the misuse of ex parte orders raises important questions about Nigeria’s commitment to justice, particularly when the Federal Government itself is involved in litigation. In 2017, the government obtained an ex parte order proscribing IPOB without the organisation being heard beforehand. In October 2022, the Court of Appeal discharged Mazi Nnamdi Kanu following findings concerning his unlawful rendition from Kenya, only for another panel of the same court to suspend that judgment at the government's request. The Supreme Court subsequently permitted his prosecution to continue despite acknowledging the illegality surrounding his rendition. As an Advocate for Human Consciousness, I believe these events deserve serious constitutional examination because the credibility of any judicial system depends on its willingness to hold the state to the same legal standards it imposes on citizens. The Chief Justice’s warning is welcome, but Nigerians deserve to know how these principles are being applied to politically sensitive cases, including those involving Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other Biafran detainees whose fundamental rights and access to justice remain matters of concern. Justice must be measured by the fairness of its application, not merely by the authority of those who pronounce it. But the Kakistocratic government of Nigeria cannot allow fairness, can they? #FreeNnamdiKanu #JusticeForBiafranDetainees #JudicialAccountability #EndArbitraryDetention #RuleOfLawNigeria #HumanRightsForAll #BiafranSelfDetermination #IPOB #FreeIllegallyHeldBiafrans

Any Igbo person seeing this should very proud right now. This is Ndi Igbo just 8 months after the Biafra war. Look at how our spirit is strong, it's not looking like we fought a war that lasted for 3 years.
