#FYIFriday Many areas in the US face a shortage of physicians in various specialties, and research has shown that having #GME programs is an effective strategy for recruiting and retaining physicians in these areas. View the "Establishing Resident Experiences in Medically Underserved Areas: New Site Perspective" webinar and hear about the benefits to becoming a rotation site for residents in medically underserved areas. ow.ly/8zrR50XUcnk #RuralHealth #MedEd
I am attending an excellent Virginia medical student advocacy workshop. There is a disconnect of needs and resources in our clinical settings. We also do not consistently prepare our medical students with the skills to be successful in this environment.

It is great to see the excitement that our institutions have for those who matched into OB/GYN fellowships yesterday. I hope the same enthusiasm is shown to those graduating residents who choose to enter practice in our communities and not sub-specialize.
While I am annoyed by the grounding of flights due to the Microsoft outage, I am angry about the complete lack of communication to the passengers that there even are delays.

Important data from the first year of program signaling and changes in abortion access @apgonews @acog @Maya_Michigan @AkingbolaBukky
In this study of OB-GYN residency applicants after the Dobbs decision, there was a small decrease in the number of applicants to states with abortion bans; however, preference signals to programs did not vary by ban status. ja.ma/3UAXhzZ

T3 - Even with limitations of standardized test, it would be a good to know that a student has sufficient knowledge of phase 1 before progressing to clinical work. #MedEdChat – at Virginia, USA
T2 A high stakes exam taken during residency would be disruptive to the residency education process. The focus on that exam (and the expectation for protected study time) would be similar to what we see with step 1. #MedEdChat – at Cave Spring, VA
T1 Three parts is consistent the traditional view of med Ed (basic science, clerkship, post-clerkship). #MedEdChat – at Cave Spring, VA
