One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.
So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."
Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.
There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.
But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.
Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:
1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)
In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.
The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.
If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.
But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

Dems can enjoy the moment. But there must be serious and urgent efforts to develop laws that will protect this experiment in democracy from those who would sell pardons, bibles, watches and cryptocurrency while pushing government funding to companies owned by friends and family.

The choice of words ... traditional/cultural leaders...not kings and queens... that is important.
While addressing the traditional and cultural leaders, I emphasised that our indigenous societies had strong foundations in agriculture, livestock, crafts, medicine and other specialised occupations (Emyooga). However, tribal chauvinism and lack of integration weakened us. That is why the NRM emphasises patriotism and Pan Africanism. You need Uganda and Africa for your prosperity.
Our cultural leaders have an important role in preserving our languages, culture and indigenous knowledge, while leaving politics and administration to elected leaders. We must reject the colonial mentality that makes Africans despise their own heritage. I am looking forward to continued discussions tomorrow.
An amazing story...twin sisters, different faith...same twin bond...
The image depicts twin sisters from Indonesia who chose different religious paths but maintain a close, supportive family relationship:
• The Catholic Nun: The sister on the right is Sister Tarsisiana M., a Catholic nun belonging to the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (PBHK) congregation. She serves as the head of a Catholic orphanage in Merauke, Papua.
• The Muslim Sister: Her identical twin sister on the left embraced Islam and is a devout practicing Muslim who has completed her Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
Their story originally went viral in Indonesia around 2015 and resurfaced in 2020 as a widely celebrated symbol of interfaith harmony, tolerance, and familial love in the country.

'Mweso' is played in the Carribbean...the Queen seems keen on it...
On things saving money, investment, success in business, navigating the economy, etc, etc, I find it more useful to read the works of semi educated successful business people than works of professors of economics who are employed.
King Charles visits a historical slave revolt site in Guyana...there looks like a school sports field nearby...school kids just go on what looks like a choreographed practicing of a sport...as though nothing was happening at the corner of the field where the king was...
The King has paused for a moment of reflection at the spot in Georgetown where dozens of public executions took place during the brutal crushing of the Demerara Slave Rebellion of 1823.
While he will not be giving a speech touching on the issue during the latest leg of his three-country official Caribbean tour, His Majesty was still keen to acknowledge historic wrongs during his two-day State Visit to Guyana.

Very well said. Why do some leaders want to jump at anything for 'visibility'? They are dusting them arrow boys again! Someone wants to create a new arrow boys 'project' for state funding?

So Akon also had a city plan for South Sudan?
Proposed Akon International Airport, in President Salva Kiir Mayardit's village never took off despite the public bleeding USD 300,000,000+.
Akon International Airport is now a fish pond and surprisingly, hippos and 🐊 are making their way there.

A Ugandan kids dance troupe caught up in Brazil election campaigns; ostensibly there to dance for Lula's campaign- thanks to a Brazillian crypto mogul.
Two of a kind.
On behalf of the government and the people of South Africa I congratulate my dear brother and friend, President @LulaOficial and the people of Brazil.
This victory will echo beyond the shores of Brazil. It is a victory for the global south and progressive forces throughout the world.
We affirm our commitment to continue strengthening bilateral relations between our two countries and working closely together in all multilateral fora to forge a just and better world order underpinned by solidarity and adherence to international law.
