A beautiful game, but let's face it most footballers will defer to authority at the drop of a hat. When petrochemical money comes calling, there isn't a dry seat in the house.
Man City ruling: Joe Harts trusts club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak's claims they are innocent of breaking Premier League's financial rules bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…
The Christmas TV show was received with some bewilderment. Not sure if this clip is from that. Nonetheless in both this and the TV special they look pretty wasted and that may have contributed. Still, it’s one of the best songs John Lennon ever wrote
#Leeds are flying. Better with Okafor and that half-volley was magnificent
On a day like today it may be wise to err on the side of optimism and care, a family working with one aim however different the roles and contributions. This film bought me close to tears when I was in my teens and left me with an abiding love of France.
In the past, I have enjoyed using this site strictly as a frame of reference. Discovering new things and so it has proved today…..
Bruising on finger. Catching an American football on the half-volley. Unlike the round kind, these balls bounce unpredictably and sometimes viciously. This jammed right up hard on the tip. It’s been 36 hours and it looks like it’s getting better.
At the port in Los Christiaos. The Atlantic swell has disappeared up north and will head that way on Thursday. Today it’s the volcano.
Birthday. Older. Wiser. Good weight and diet. Bit creaky but working on it, protein and exercise. Loved ones. Opinions and still reading, you never know. Still in love with movies and the notion of a hot ticket. Still wondering why and where and when……
Seen them all and it’s a good list. Throw in Sergeant Pepper, a bit of Graham Greene and the first Clash album and that’s all you need to know. Attended a citizenship ceremony about 12 years ago and it was rather moving.
Was there. A great day the most exciting sporting occasion I have ever witnessed. The first and only time that I was at a cricket match that felt like a football match. He seemed to be almost floating down the pitch and coming in at real speed.
The unwritten rule of cricket: NEVER bowl a bouncer to a fast bowler who can bowl 95mph back at you. 😭
After being struck flush on the helmet by a Fanie de Villiers bouncer, the South African slip cordon laughed.
Big Devon looked at them, made a promise, and turned the second innings into an absolute warzone. Allan Donald later called it "the most destructive piece of fast bowling I have ever seen."🤯
Devon Malcolm turned a bruised helmet into a career-defining 9 for 57 demolition. 🔥
Reading Humboldt’s gift by Saul Bellow and what do I find, by rich coincidence. Some 27 years ago I saw the opera at La Scala. Not a few pyrotechnics and one of the last productions before it closed for repairs
Greatest musician of the 20th century. Pianist, arranger, band leader, composer. The works!
Duke Ellington, 1929
ALT Musician and bandleader Duke Ellington — dressed in a black suit and dark-coloured tie — captured standing in profile, face turned toward the camera with a slight smile, his hands resting on his belt, a lit cigarette in his right hand, posing spotlighted against a black background, in a medium-length black-and-white studio portrait

#Piano playing with independent hand movements is very difficult. I can almost feel the signals from my brain moving down my arm
@BtnStnPiano why is it always locked why not just take it away @SouthernRailUK
#cannes2025 there’s many great murals around town but this is still one of the best
