In the lead-up to the 10th edition of the Future of Health Conference #FHC2024, themed “From Evidence to Action: Building Resilience at the Climate-Health Nexus,” we will once again host a fireside chat with @CEPIvaccines, examining the impact of #climatechangeon the transmission of infectious diseases. The fireside chat is especially timely as @CEPIvaccines has invested in six vaccine candidates. In April 2024, the first-ever phase 2 clinical trials for @IAVI’s Lassa fever vaccine candidate began in #Nigeria, with further vaccine trial sites subsequently launched in #Ghana, and #Liberia. The urgency of vaccine development aligns with the reality that rising temperatures accelerate and amplify the spread and range of infectious diseases. This issue was highlighted on the first day of the @WorldHealthSmt #WHS2024 during the panel discussion, “Addressing Pandemic Threats Through the Lens of Climate Change.” The panel discussion reinforced the importance of preparing health systems to be more resilient and adaptable to the effects of climate change.
