It's hilarious the woman tells them this is a Catholic university. And the student corrects her: "No, it's Jesuit." Truth from the mouth of babes.
Gonzaga University, a “Catholic” college, tried to shut us out because they’re scared of the truth about abortion. I was banned from tabling. The administration prevented students from coming inside to ask questions. “Catholic” student protestors demanded the Church bend to abortion. This indoctrination is happening on college campuses across America, including at “Catholic” schools. Let’s be clear: you cannot be Catholic and support abortion. The backlash I faced here is in direct contradiction to the Church. I’m not going anywhere.

🥲 Heartbreaking.

Ladies! Lindsay Clancy was a weak woman. Stop trying to emulate her. She was not the hero, she was the villain, insane or not. Her children were the victims. Real, strong women protect their children at all costs.
🇺🇸 Two kids are dead... Kai was 7, Ella was 6, and their mother, Janette MacAusland, is charged with killing them in their Wellesley home. Police say she drove to Vermont afterward and told her aunt she had done it. Today her lawyer asked a judge to throw the case out, asking prosecutors to take a “different approach” with women who have “profound mental health problems.” He brought up the Lindsay Clancy case and said this isn’t Clancy 2.0: The judge still said no. Two children are still gone, and that doesn’t change. Writer: Val

This should make you angry. This is Bonnie Pierce, a 38-year-old mother of three from St. Paul, Minnesota. Her house caught fire. She and two of her children escaped, then realized her toddler was still inside. Bonnie went back in, found the child, but could not get out. She shielded the child with her body. She died from her burns. The child survived. A GoFundMe for her family raised about $42,000. By comparison, more than $1,000,000 was raised on GoFundMe for Lindsay Clancy, who was charged with killing her children. It is a sad reflection of the society we have become. RIP Bonnie.

Yup.
I’ve been sitting with this Lindsey Clancy stuff for a second and my thing is this. If you woke me up in a hospital bed tomorrow and were like, Laura, yesterday in a psychotic fit you strangled your baby to death… There’s simply no chance that years later I would be sitting in a courtroom listening to lawyers debating the nature of my guilt. Let’s say, even, you could prove beyond a reasonable doubt that aliens from another planet mind melded with me and forced me to do it. It wouldn’t matter to me. Every breath I took would be wasted air. My baby suffocated in fear and confusion as I killed her. Every step I took from that moment on would be on the way to making sure I succeeded in ending my own life. I technically, of my own mind, didn’t even do it but again, it wouldn’t matter to me. I would either make sure I died or, by force, be chained in a dark jail cell with only an icon of Christ until I withered away alone and in misery. So yeah I wouldn’t be sitting in a court room.

The mother who just killed her 2 year-old was an obsessive Lindsay Clancy supporter. I told you. Women are especially susceptible to social contagion. It can cause eating disorders, self-harm, "gender transition," and yes, even child murder. Be warned.
Hours before Corie Walsh strangled her son, she was hyper-fixated on Lindsay Clancy in chats Folks, don't ignore the warning signs

It’s Ok to acknowledge this and still think she should be institutionalized for a very long time, if not for the rest of her life. Even if all of this is true, if it had happened to me, it would seem the natural response, coming out of this stupor, would be an overwhelming feeling of guilt, loss and probably a will not to live. Would we think someone with sanity issues over pregnancy and after is going to ever overcome the realization of killing her children? I would not be seeking self preservation, but some way to atone and get my self to heaven to see my children again. I know people are ill and I know people are give “just one more pill.” Heck, I know people hear voices but I don’t think freedom for Lindsey is an option for her sake or society’s. You don’t come back from this.

Unfollowed him and followed you. Lindsay Clancy was a labor-and-delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital. She had been treated for severe postpartum psychiatric illness, including a short inpatient stay at McLean Hospital in early January 2023. On January 24, 2023—after reporting a commanding voice telling her to kill her children and then herself—she strangled her three children, then cut her wrists and neck, ingested pills, and jumped from a second-story window. The fall severed her spinal cord and left her paralyzed from the waist down; she has used a wheelchair since. Clancy’s documented psychiatric history is almost entirely tied to the postpartum period after her three births, and it intensified sharply after her youngest child was born in May 2022. After her first child (Cora, 2017) she had postpartum anxiety that apparently settled. After her second (Dawson, 2019), symptoms were more serious; her husband later described a short stretch of high energy, racing thoughts, and obsessive cleaning that the family’s later lawsuits treat as possible early hypomania. She saw a psychiatrist then and improved with lifestyle changes rather than staying on medication. Boston Globe The severe collapse came after Callan. By September 2022, as maternity leave was ending, she reported panic, insomnia, loss of appetite, anhedonia, guilt, and racing thoughts. Her first treating psychiatrist diagnosed generalized anxiety disorder and an adjustment disorder with depressed mood and started Zoloft. She delayed the drug while breastfeeding, then had a bad reaction (near-total sleeplessness, worse anxiety). Over the next four months she was prescribed a rapidly changing mix of antidepressants, sleep aids, benzos, and an antipsychotic—more than a dozen different drugs in total—as symptoms worsened rather than improved. Bostong Globe By late 2022 she was describing numbness, inability to feel love, intrusive thoughts of harming herself and the children, and daily suicidal thinking. She went to ERs, called a suicide line, was evaluated at a postpartum program in Providence (where clinicians said her picture looked more like overmedication than classic postpartum depression), and on New Year’s Day 2023 admitted herself to McLean Hospital. She stayed five days. The McLean psychiatrist’s working diagnosis was major depressive disorder, severe, without psychotic features; she was discharged January 5 as low risk to others. CBS News Some treaters raised possible bipolar disorder because of the sleep-loss reaction to antidepressants and family reports of earlier “high” periods; that diagnosis was not firmly given before January 24. Command hallucinations were not recorded by her outpatient clinicians before that day; she and her defense later said a voice appeared then and ordered the killings and her suicide attempt. After the fact, defense experts diagnosed postpartum psychosis and bipolar illness with postpartum onset; prosecutors argue the pre-incident records show severe depression and anxiety without proven psychosis. NBC News In short: milder postpartum anxiety after the first two births, then a four-month spiral of severe depression, insomnia, intrusive thoughts, polypharmacy, one brief psychiatric admission, and no consensus diagnosis of psychosis until after the January 24 tragic events.

There’s likely no way we will ever know what is real in this case. I base my comments on what was put forth by both sides. We can have mercy for a mentally ill woman, justice for the children and protection for society.

I don’t know a single conservative who has a problem with Dorothy Day. The only people who I’ve ever met who’ve had a problem with her are wealthy white liberals.
NEW: The Vatican has approved the first portion of Dorothy Day’s canonization file, moving the Catholic Worker founder a step closer to sainthood under the first American pope — a prospect that unsettles conservatives wary of her connection to democratic socialism and ardent opposition to every American war of her lifetime. thelettersfromleo.com/p/doro…

JUST IN: California lawmakers pass a bill requiring large companies to disclose historical ties to slavery, sending the measure to Gov. Newsom.

Some believe Dorothy Day was a communist & a liberal Catholic. She wasn’t. Following her conversion, she set up initiatives to draw workers away from communism to situate them firmly within Catholic Social Teaching. Spiritually, she was as traditional as you can get: she had tremendous devotion to the Mass, rosary & Stations of the Cross. She fostered a deep love for the poor & embraced a life of poverty to serve them. She was opposed to war & did join in anti-war protests, though she was horrified by how extreme some anti-war protestors were. When a man burned himself to death at a protest she was stunned & deeply upset, she tells us she prayed ardently for his soul. Dorothy was a faithful daughter of the Church, embracing the Church & its teachings with full assent & devotion while manifesting what seems like heroic virtue (the Church will judge that definitively). To pull her out of her life of service & devotion to either hail or denounce her as a communist is to misunderstand her. And Mary’s point here is worth noting: Cardinal O’Connor had no time for communism, but he knew a Saint when he saw one.
Utter nonsense. Day's cause was introduced by the late John Cardinal O'Connor, widely considered one of the most conservative prelates in the US. He believed Day's deep regret over her pre-conversion abortion could serve as a sign of hope to others who had made the same mistake.

“The tabernacle competes with the altar of sacrifice for the eye’s attention” My chief dude in Christ, literally nobody has ever said “I missed what happened at the altar. Too busy being laser-focused on the tabernacle.”
Some bishops are caving to the wrong-headed idea that the tabernacle should be the focal point of a church sanctuary, even in a cathedral. They need to defend the norms of both antiquity and the Second Vatican Council. ncronline.org/opinion/ncr-vo…

They’re making it really hard this last week not to get back into blogging. What is going in with these silly, over the top screeds?
