'This time around, Trump’s primary rationale for why voters should support the GOP, as best I can tell, is that the affordability crisis is a “hoax,” Bill Maher is a “loser,” and Senator Jon Husted of Ohio has a nice physique.'
“Trump’s superpower was his intuitive understanding of what motivated his supporters. Many Republicans privately tell me that he’s lost that feel. Trump now lives, they think, in a gilded bubble, palling around with billionaires, oblivious to—and, even worse, uncaring about—the problems facing so many voters” theatlantic.com/politics/202…

[SA EXPLAINED] In eThekwini, 58.6% of survey respondents chose a critical answer on flood-damage repairs. Water services are also under scrutiny. What could those frustrations mean for the ANC heading into the local elections? #eNCA Watch the full conversation here: youtube.com/watch?v=IXIKqzKG…

eThekwini might be one of the most interesting places to watch post the election due to the Executive Committee system. Latest Ipsos polling on eThekwini shows MK way out front. They have been consistently ahead in Durbz. Only city where the DA has not polled as the biggest party. eThekwini has an Executive Committee system and not an Executive Mayoral system. Power is distributed across parties based on a proportional basis in the Council. That means regardless of what MK gets, the Exco will be made up of DA, ANC, IFP and EFF councillors and maybe a minority or two. Based on currently polling MK and the EFF may have enough to steer the municipality. But it will be an interesting place to watch post the election because all parties will be represented in power and decision-making.

Folks, let’s stop fooling ourselves, no amount of military/police deployments/court interdicts would stop the movement against illegal immigration. Or the vicious apartheid machinery would have postponed our freedom permanently. Government has to lead by cleaning up its own mess which has enabled illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is just that - illegal immigration. Until this happens, there won’t be peace and stability in our land. Leaders address root causes as opposed to symptoms. It’s statement after statement and no required traction. We have a serious leadership deficit.

When the DA took Kouga in Aug 16, only 4% of municipal vehicles were working. Within 18 months, 96% of municipal vehicles were working. Kouga is where it is today thanks to competent governance on the DA's part!
Kouga has transformed from one of the worst municipalities to the Eastern Cape’s best-governed municipality! The DA can fix your roads, provide clean water, and bring more jobs to your town and city. 🇿🇦🔵 VOTE DA on 4 November 🗳️

Six Suspects Arrested After Police Chase Down Mercedes-Benz Minibus And Recover R500,000 Worth Of Copper Cables Stolen From Eskom Six suspects have been arrested after police recovered suspected stolen copper cables worth approximately R500,000 in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, during an operation conducted by the SAPS Gqeberha K9 Unit in the early hours of Friday, 30 October 2026. Police received information about a white Mercedes-Benz minibus allegedly linked to an armed robbery at Eskom in the Nxuba Industrial Area on 22 October. At approximately 06:00, officers spotted the vehicle on the N2 in Markman, but the driver refused to stop and sped away before being forced to stop in Nomvete Street, Wells Estate. Six suspects jumped out of the minibus and attempted to flee. Police dog K9 Brutus apprehended one suspect, while officers pursued and arrested the remaining five. A search of the vehicle uncovered copper cables valued at approximately R500,000, which Eskom employees positively identified as property stolen during the robbery. The minibus was also impounded. The six suspects, aged between 29 and 43, were arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and are expected to appear before the Motherwell Magistrate's Court on Monday, 2 November 2026. Nelson Mandela Bay Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Loyiso Ngalo commended the officers for their swift response and determination.

My final prediction for next week’s election in Jozi: we end up with the same model of government as Tshwane. ANC, EFF, MK, PA, ActionSA and others. The ANC will probably hold half the MMC positions, most committees and, crucially, control over board appointments. The patronage networks survive. We’ll get a puppet mayor. Probably someone who speaks well and provides a superficial veneer of “change”. The BOSA lady or the RISE guy would be perfect for that role, and Panyaza knows it. Someone else gets the mayoral chain. The ANC keeps the machinery. I think we’re entering an even more toxic era of governance in South Africa, where the political face of a government has increasingly little to do with who controls it or where it’s heading. They’ll go online, speak beautifully and sell the illusion of progress while nothing fundamentally changes. The ANC continues to plunder the republic, and clever blacks on Twitter get their “gotcha” moment. Apparently, watching a different person explain the same collapse will count as change. I hope I’m wrong. I would be the happiest person in the world to be proven wrong. That being said, Vote Zille ffs.

🚨 Tshwane’s Finance Head, Gareth Mnisi, was raided by SARS. This reflects badly on Mayor Nasiphi Moya’s leadership after she defended him against the allegations he faced at the Madlanga Commission.

Sadly, 30%ers dont understand graphs
This explains a lot. When the DA was removed from Tshwane in Octover 2024, water losses were on a downward trajectory. The reversal was quick and sharp. Now sitting at 45.6% under Moya. When they tell you to decrease consumption. Point to this.
