Padme’s medical droid: She just lost the will to live.
Me (there for some reason): Wait, what? That’s not a thing.
Droid: Good catch—You’re right, my first diagnosis of “lost her will to live” was incorrect. She actually had a massive cerebral hemorrhage.
Oui...honhonhon...oui!
🇫🇷 French presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon pledged Saturday that, if elected, French navy ships would escort citizen flotillas trying to break Israel's blockade of Gaza “if necessary."
"We will act head-on to help the Palestinians, against both the genocide in Gaza and the gradual annexation of the West Bank," Mélenchon, the leader of the left-wing party La France Insoumise, said at a rally at Le Bourget, near Paris, where he presented his program for the 2027 election.
He said France would not accept Israel's "gradual annexation" of the West Bank, southern Lebanon or the Golan Heights.
Talking about bipartisanship when you've almost got veto-proof majorities is the classic dem fatalism I know and love
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said that his party is “ready, willing and able to find bipartisan common ground” in order to work with Republicans on the ongoing affordability crisis. abcnews.visitlink.me/ymEF7Q

Because destroying his own power and the power of people like him, including but not limited to presience, was the entire point. He didn't rule because he believed humanity would be better under his rule. He ruled to make of himself an object lesson in the hopes that when his downfall, which he eventually facilitated, finally came, humanity would grow up and stop following grand leaders like him.
Or if you want the more poetic version on presience specifically, "to know the future is to be trapped by it." He was, deliberately, something of a contradiction. A dictator who wanted nothing more than not only a humanity that was truly free, but free and mature enough to survive their own freedom. Hence all the reverse psychology.
Can a Dune book reader explain why Leto II spent thousands of years breeding a human he couldn't see in his own visions?
For 3,500 years, the God Emperor controlled humanity through his prescience. He could anticipate threats, manipulate bloodlines and guide the future.
But he deliberately created a bloodline that would become invisible to prescient vision.
Why would the most powerful prescient being in human history deliberately create the one thing that could escape his sight?

How do traffic engineers plan highways? Take this year's growth rate, compound it over 25 years, and build today for that demand. Apply the same logic to Amtrak's 7.2% annual growth and we'd be building for 213 million riders a year, right now.
Predicting that cons are going to see the narrow anti-trans wins and interpret that as their new call to arms only for it to blow up in their faces spectacularly
The only borders worth respecting!!
