Lol but what he said isn't wrong tho and what you are saying too is not wrong For any functioning society the system that is practiced will tell if the society will have growth and development Depending on the type of market system practiced you can have only growth but NEVER development In this aspect Growth is directly proportional to our GDp, employment and unemployment rate and the rest of them while Development is on the standard of living of the citizens. But what are majori drivers? Competition If there's competition a society is FORCED to move forward not just add to the gross domestic product of the country but real innovation and change. This type of development is seen in an economy that practise a healthy market system So one could argue that giving so much power to one person can't constrain development, yes there will be growth, but there can not be real development, maybe to certain degrees but no real development So if there's just growth and no development, the country is stuck in a loop of inflation, deflation, depression and the likes. But if there's development i.e standard of living of people is better, it starts with the micro things before you see them in macro, consumption increase because purchasing power is more, which invariably leads to increase in supply since demand is up Taste and preference goes up too and hence other countries of the world is forced to open their doors to trade with us, On a macro standard, more competition will lead to innovation and this would directly lead to early trade with the rest of the world and yeah development. We then leave our traditional economic system and move to a global industriale economic system By this, you wont have to wait 3-4years before leading tech gets to you, you will have them as they are brought to life.
