Tyrone GAA stands in solidarity with the Brown family as their fight for truth and justice continues in the Supreme Court this week. The ruling in favour of a public inquiry into the murder of Sean Brown on 12 May 1997 must be upheld.

It is for the people to decide who the First Minister is. Not Carla Lockhart or the DUP. The days of second class citizens are over!

Saddened to hear of passing of Dromore Republican activist Charlie McElholm. Irish Independence Party Councillor 1981-85. Condolences to his family, friends and comrades. A tribute from Cllr Glenn Campbell: "I was saddened to learn the of the death of Charlie McElholm. Charlie was a gentleman, who was highly respected in Dromore and much further afield. A life-long Republican and proud Tyrone Gael, Charlie’s loss will be sorely felt across the community. Charlie always had time to stop and talk to people and listen in equal measure. He enjoyed all aspects of Irish culture and liked nothing better than celebrating our culture through music and song, in the company of friends. Charlie served as a Councillor on Omagh District Council from 1981 to 1985. This was a very difficult time to be a Republican and, in taking on the role as an elected representative, Charlie courageously took a stand in support of his community and in pursuit of Irish Independence. Like many, I will miss Charlie’s welcoming smile on the streets of Dromore and, indeed, from his doorway in Church Street. He was a familiar sight on Church Street over the years, as the community gathered to remember the Hunger Strikers at the memorial garden, close to the McElholm residence. My sincere condolences, to Charlie’s daughters, Treasa and Siobhán, his son Cathaoir and the extended McElholm and Nugent families. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."

I am delighted by today’s judgment for those communities & families who lost loved ones on this road & campaigned so tirelessly for a new one. To those who for party-political reasons, attacked me and my then DfI officials, accusing us of incompetence. you have your answer.

Today’s positive ruling on the A5 provides an important opportunity to move this project forward. We owe it to those who have lost their lives, to those who have been injured, and to future generations to get on and deliver this life saving road.

Along with several MPs on a cross party basis I have written to Chris Bryant, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, to intervene to halt the proposed Orange Order march in the Garvaghy Road to avoid this issue causing further harm to the community overall.
