Snow, snow and more snow is on the way #OttCity! Don't forget to keep your natural gas meter and appliance vents clear of snow and ice, including the path leading to them. This will prevent dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in your home. @OttFire

Well Ottawa, it's snowing. A lot. If you're out and about today, please stay safe. Road & sidewalk conditions will certainly be affected by this storm. Be sure to check on family, friends & neighbours who may be isolated or vulnerable to the storm.

This week’s Respiratory Dashboard update is now live at OttawaPublicHealth.ca/VirusR…, with the latest trends for COVID-19, RSV, and the flu. We do these every week to help you assess your risk and that of your loved ones. This week's key takeaways: while COVID-19 levels are moderate, flu is very high and RSV is high. Last week, the number of people hospitalized with the flu was higher than the week before. Overall, combined hospitalizations for the three viruses last week were higher than the same time last year. There’s still time to get your annual flu vaccine. It’s one of the best ways to prevent hospitalizations and complications, and it's especially important for those at highest risk like older adults and young children. Flu vaccines are readily available in the community. Learn more at: OttawaPublicHealth.ca/Flu For more information about respiratory illness season, including where to seek care if your child is sick, please visit: OttawaPublicHealth.ca/RespVi…

This week’s Respiratory Dashboard update is now live: OttawaPublicHealth.ca/VirusR…, with the latest trends for COVID-19, RSV, and the flu. The key takeaway: we’re in the middle of a busy flu season, and flu activity remains very high locally. In fact, last week, the number of people hospitalized with the flu was higher than the peak of last season. The good news? Flu activity typically peaks around this time of year, but we’re not in the clear yet. Older adults and young children remain at the highest risk for complications. There’s still time to get your annual flu vaccine. It’s one of the best ways to prevent hospitalizations and complications, and are especially important for those at higher risk. This week’s Respiratory Dashboard update is now live. The key takeaway: flu activity increased to very high levels this week and, while we're not out of the woods yet, RSV & COVID-19 have started to decline. And we have also noted an increase in gastro outbreaks. The most effective ways to protect yourself (and those around you) and to limit the spread of these viruses are to use your layers of protection, wash your hands often, and stay up to date on your vaccines. You can find info about vaccines, your layers and where to seek care if you or your child is sick on our website: OttawaPublicHealth.ca/RespVi… As always, this week’s full dashboard update can be found here: OttawaPublicHealth.ca/VirusR…

Heading into the holidays the levels of COVID-19 & flu circulating in our community are similar to what we’ve seen in recent weeks, and RSV activity (in particular hospitalizations and % positivity) are once again notably high. As we start to gather in large groups please be mindful of your health. Protect friends and family by staying home if you have any respiratory illness symptoms and washing your hands often. We wish you a happy and healthy holiday season 📷 Info about your other layers of protection, when to seek care, and more can be found on our website OttawaPublicHealth.ca/RespVi… As always, the full dashboard update can be found here: OttawaPublicHealth.ca/VirusR…
