It's been nearly a year, but Brendan and Dustin have finally received their compensation per the NLRB ruling! We hope that what happened with OVEC shows other nonprofits the need for and power in a union, and that nonprofit organizations are not above labor law….

We call on @OVEC_WV’s Board to remove this man from the negotiations committee, if not also remove him from their Board entirely. The damage he has done in the span of less than a year to OVEC is incalculable. For OVEC to survive, he must go.

We are outlining the pattern of stalling, misinformation, abuse, disrespect, and damage that @OVEC_WV’s lead negotiator has done to OVEC, the staff, and other board members. It’s clear he never had the intention of bargaining in good faith.

On Wednesday, October 27th, we were set to begin contract negotiations with @OVEC_WV’s bargaining committee. Mere hours beforehand, management’s team informed us they would not be meeting with us. Here’s a 🧵 on what happened.

It’s time for #FairBargainingNow. The sooner we can have a contract that meets our collective needs, the better.

We are excited to begin negotiations with @OVEC_WV’s bargaining committee this Wednesday. It’s been seven months since we went public, and now we’re ready to begin working on our contract. We’re fighting to make OVEC a better organization for all.

OVEC was presented with a settlement from the NLRB in September to reinstate Dustin and Brendan with backpay. If OVEC continues to fight this, they will not only undoubtedly lose at the December hearing, but they will be forced to pay far more in backpay.

Thank you to everyone who signed our petition demanding that OVEC management agree to the proposed NLRB settlement and reinstate Dustin and Brendan. If they weren’t aware of how much support the union has before, they certainly are now!

Another union win! The NLRB has refused OVEC’s request for review and stands by their decision that Brendan is not management. Isn’t it time that OVEC put this matter behind them and reinstate our members? Contact OVEC at 304-522-0246 and tell them to sign the settlement.
