We gotta take a beat here for a second. The Starter Set for Gundam Assemble, which includes six models, terrain, dice, cards, and scenario booklet costs the same as a single Primaris Librarian in 40k. Look at these pictures and compare; one of them is a "complete breakfast."

Tim's not wrong that my Steam friends can't talk to my Xbox or Switch friends. But nobody's forced into Steamworks. Epic Online Services is free, cross-platform, and works in Steam games today. When players review-bomb a game for skipping Steam features, that isn't Valve locking devs in. That's players telling you what they value. On my Deck and my Machine, my friends list just works. ^ New frivolous community note incoming. Correct, Valve doesn't kidnap you and force you to use Steamworks. You can use your own account and social solution, start from zero, and try to grow amidst review bombings pressuring the developer to adopt Steamworks and be locked in.

Tim Sweeney is criticizing Valve again over Steam’s requirement for developers to disclose their use of generative AI. The Epic Games CEO called the policy “abhorrent,” arguing that developers are being forced to make a “political statement” that could be used against them by a “hate mob.” Sweeney has been criticizing the policy since 2025, previously comparing the disclosure to a “Scarlet Letter” and arguing that AI will eventually be part of almost every game production process.
