🙏🙏🙏 Hundreds of bereaved Israeli and Palestinian families, who have lost their loved ones over decades of bloody conflict, call on the leaders of Israel’s pro-change political bloc and the liberal Jewish public to choose political partnership with the Arab parties and form a government capable of bringing about real change in Israel and across the Middle East. This is a rare historic opportunity to replace fear and incitement with Jewish-Arab partnership in the leadership of the country, grounded in equality, coexistence, and the pursuit of peace. We, the members of the Israeli-Palestinian Parents Circle – Families Forum, who have dedicated our lives to advancing reconciliation, justice, security, and peace for both peoples, urge you not to miss this opportunity. Show the courage to lead. Learn from us in civil society - we work together & it only makes us stronger. Choose partnership over extremism, racism, and fearmongering, and bring about change that can shape a different reality for future generations. 🕊️🤝📣 Share our appeal!

On October 19, members of the Israeli-Palestinian Parents Circle، Families Forum participated in a dialogue meeting in Vienna, the capital of Austria, organized by the Women’s Federation for World Peace International (WFWPI). During the meeting, Mousa Juma shared his personal experience of loss, speaking with deep pain about the deaths of his cousin and several other family members as a result of the ongoing war in Gaza, and the profound human suffering left in its wake. Yonatan Zeigen also joined the meeting  and shared his personal story of losing his mother during the events of October 7, reflecting on the profound human impact of loss and the pain, memories, and challenges of learning to live with the absence of loved ones. Their participation underscored the importance of mutual listening and human connection, reaffirming that dialogue does not mean denying pain or overlooking rights and responsibilities. Rather, it means acknowledging the suffering of others, respecting their human dignity, and working toward a future defined by peace, justice, and security for all.

לקריאת ההצהרה דרך הקישור tinyurl.com/bdh7hbmc "Urgent Appeal to Halt the Humanitarian Deterioration and the Threat of Forced Displacement in Hebron, Masafer Yatta and Across the West Bank" We the undersigned civil society organizations are following with profound anger and condemnation the dangerous escalation unfolding in the city of Hebron and its surrounding areas, as well as across the occupied West Bank, as a result of Israeli military operations and ongoing settler attacks. These developments have been accompanied by raids, displacement, the demolition of buildings and homes, closures, blockades, restrictions on freedom of movement, attacks against civilians and their property, and threats to their security and continued presence on their land. We, at The Parents Circle–Families Forum, reaffirm our unwavering opposition to violence and the killing of Palestinians and Israelis, including the shooting attack that took place on Friday and the ongoing killing in Gaza. At the same time, we oppose collective punishment, which comes at the expense of civilians. Displacement and demolition do not create security, and the suffering of one people cannot come at the cost of another people’s security. Behind every home whose residents are displaced is a family losing its sense of safety and living in fear and uncertainty, and children being torn away from their homes and schools. These are not merely numbers; they are human lives, human dignity, and a fundamental right to live in safety. We are following with grave concern the situation in the city of Hebron, where more than 2,000 Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes, alongside home demolitions and widespread closures that paralyze daily life and restrict freedom of movement for nearly one million people. This situation must end. Respect for life, human dignity, and human rights is the path toward a just, secure, and peaceful future for all.

Think of the families torn apart, the people we have lost, and the futures they will never have. Think of all the families who may still join us if this conflict continues. We know the cost of war. We live with it every single day. When you go to vote, think of the lives that can still be saved

Bassam Aramin, who lost his daughter Abir, and Rami Elhanan, who lost his daughter Smadar, are two bereaved fathers and members of the Israeli-Palestinian Parents Circle – Families Forum. Both have chosen to transform their pain into a driving force for peace, rather than surrender to revenge and hatred. During their visit to Italy, the two met with schoolchildren, university students, journalists, and members of the public, sharing a message of hope: the cycle of violence can be broken through dialogue, recognition of the suffering of the other, and a steadfast commitment to the right of both Palestinians and Israelis to freedom, dignity, peace, and security. During the visit, they planted a tree together in memory of their daughters, Smadar and Abir, as a symbol of remembrance and hope. In recognition of their work and contributions, the ANPI Nicola Grosa association in Turin, Italy, initiated a campaign to recommend the two men for the Nobel Peace Prize, acknowledging their enduring commitment to reconciliation and ending the cycle of violence. The story of Bassam Aramin and Rami Elhanan embodies the very essence of the Forum’s mission: choosing to transform pain and loss into action for peace, breaking the cycle of violence, recognizing the suffering of the other, and remaining committed to reconciliation. At the same time, PCFF emphasizes that a just and lasting peace requires an end to the occupation, respect for human rights, and the guarantee of freedom, security, and justice for both peoples.

Sima Awad lost her brother in 2008. Over the past few weeks, they have traveled together across the United States, visiting San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and Boston. In each city, they met with diverse audiences, shared their personal stories, and delivered a shared message of reconciliation and peace. Two women who know the pain of bereavement firsthand, both choosing not to let it define their future. Through their loss, they remind us that another path is possible: recognizing the humanity on the other side, transforming pain into hope, and working together toward a future in which no more families will have to experience the pain of losing a loved one. The Parents Circle، Families Forum strongly condemns the settlers’ attack last night in the village of Mukhmas, east of Ramallah, during which a mosque and a vehicle were set on fire and olive trees were cut down. Attacks on places of worship, land, and residents’ property are violations of human dignity and the right to live in safety. We believe that ending the occupation and violence, and achieving justice and dignity for all human beings, are the path toward a peaceful future.

Shahd Al-Najjar, an eight-year-old girl, was preparing to go to school in a tent in Gaza, after the Israeli military had destroyed a large part of the Strip’s schools. She should have been carrying her schoolbag, dreaming of a bright future, and building a life filled with hope. Instead, her life was cut short by a bullet fired from an Israeli military drone. Shahd’s story embodies the tragedy of thousands of children killed in Gaza. More than 22,000 children have been killed during this war, which is still ongoing. This figure reflects the scale of the catastrophe facing Gaza’s children and their families: children deprived of their schools, their dreams, and their fundamental right to life, and families left to endure the unbearable pain of loss. The continued killing of children and the destruction of their lives must never become normalised or reduced to just another passing headline on the news. The Parents Circle–Families Forum calls for an immediate end to the war on Gaza, the protection of civilians, and the guarantee of every child’s right to life, safety, and education. Shahd is not a number, and the children of Gaza are not numbers. Stop the killing and destruction now. Let the children of Gaza live.

Yesterday, we had the honor of meeting with France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, and Christophe Parisot, Ambassador-designate of France to Israel, during their visit to attend October 7 memorial events in Tel Aviv and southern Israel. Fifty-one French citizens were killed on October 7. Minister Barrot expressed his support for PCFF’s vision and for our work to create dialogue rooted in empathy and humanity between Israelis and Palestinians, even in this painful reality. He also spoke about his deep concern over the current situation and stressed France’s commitment to the security and rights of both Israelis and Palestinians, and to working toward a lasting peace. Minister Barrot and Ambassador-designate Parisot wished the best and praised PCFF for their nomination for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. “We think that the common enemy between the Israelis and the Palestinians, it's the occupation itself. When there is no reason to fight or to kill each other, we can live together again, all side by side, as good neighbors”, Palestinian peace activist Bassam Aramin tells me. “Otherwise, we will share the same piece of land as two big graveyards. “What’s the meaning of grief? Is it a political affiliation? Is the pain in a blue and white flag or perhaps a Palestinian flag? I don't think so. I think the pain is the same pain.” Robi Damelin @PCFFIP has dedicated her life to bringing peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Today she joined me to reflect on the loss and pain of October 7th.

We know the cost of war. A guitar with no one left to play it. A schoolbag with no child left to carry it. A watch that has stopped. A toy left behind On October 7, Israeli families were shattered by killing, hostage-taking, and loss. In the three years since, Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank have endured mass killing, destruction, displacement, hunger, injury, and the loss of entire families. Some of those bereaved Israelis and Palestinians later joined the Parents Circle – Families Forum, choosing, despite everything they had endured, not to let grief become another reason for revenge. For years, we have said the same thing, and we say it again today: We do not need more bereaved families to prove that this path has failed. How many more families must lose someone they love before we choose another way? We stand with all bereaved families, Palestinians and Israeli, and share in their grief.
