A March 2026 Public Citizen analysis listed it among Ohio hospitals at heightened financial risk under the Medicaid cuts in last year's reconciliation law. Rep. Troy Balderson voted for that law, and he also helped expand the rural health fund that is meant to offset it.
KFF puts Ohio's rural Medicaid losses at about $6.45 billion over ten years. The rural fund sends Ohio roughly $1.3 billion.

I owe the community that raised me everything.
Growing up, I didn’t always have stability – my family faced multiple evictions when I was a child. But my teachers and programs like Urban Underground and AmeriCorps gave me community and mentorship that set me up for success, even when life didn’t make it easy.
These programs taught me everything from community organizing to public speaking. I was pushed outside of my comfort zone and gained a new perspective on the world around me. And I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
They’re the reason I got into public service and the reason I want to give back to the community to make this state a better place for all Wisconsinites.
