PRM year in review🧵In 2024, @StatePRM led efforts to strengthen U.S. national security & international migration policy by building the capacity of partner countries’ migration and asylum systems, making it possible for people to integrate & build new lives where they are.
We also worked with global partners to implement innovative humanitarian solutions for refugees & vulnerable people in the face of unprecedented displacement & crises. U.S. humanitarian leadership helps mitigate the destabilizing effects of crises abroad on Americans at home.
And we responded to private Americans’ request to participate directly in refugee resettlement by sponsoring and supporting refugees in communities across all 50 states. We’re thankful for @WelcomeCorps sponsors who embody the generosity & warmth of the holidays year-round.
Earlier today @SecBlinken announced nearly $200 M in additional humanitarian funding for the Sudan crisis, including over $104 M through @StatePRM to support lifesaving assistance & protection to vulnerable people & generous host communities throughout the region.
We need urgent action on increasing emergency relief for Sudan.
Today, I announced the U.S. is providing nearly $200 million in additional assistance to the humanitarian response inside Sudan and in neighboring countries.
