📢 Have Your Say on Bendigo's Local Public Holiday 📢 The Bendigo Jockey Club is encouraging our community to support Bendigo Cup Day as Bendigo's local public holiday. For more than 150 years, the Bendigo Cup has been one of Bendigo's signature events, bringing thousands of people together while generating significant benefits for local businesses, tourism and the wider economy. Importantly, the Bendigo Cup's current position immediately before the Melbourne Cup is fundamental to its success. Changing the public holiday would ultimately require the race to move, putting at risk its place as one of Australia's premier Melbourne Cup lead-up races and the economic and community benefits it delivers to Bendigo. Retaining the public holiday on Bendigo Cup Day allows all the events at that time of year, including the Bendigo Cup, to continue thriving in their traditional positions as some of Bendigo's most significant community events. 🗳️ We encourage everyone to have their say before Sunday, 9 August 2026, on this link: letstalkgreaterbendigo.com.a… Together, let's continue supporting an event that showcases Bendigo, drives our local economy and delivers lasting benefits across the community.
