Thankful to @grist for this. There's some solace in learning that @PacificStand is still reaching a million readers a month, that all those still-relevant social and environmental justice stories are still informing people.
We believe that up until the very day it closed last summer, @PacificStand published stories that matter in a way few other publications have done.
So, we’re giving the publication a new home at Grist. We are committing to keep their archives accessible. grist.org/climate/grist-acqu…

Amid all the grim, some good news in the journalism world! Thank you @grist for keeping @PacificStand alive.

Some happy news: Like many @PacificStand staffers, I've worried about what would happen to psmag.com and the many still-relevant stories hosted there. Today @grist is announcing it's acquired PS & committed to maintaining the archives: grist.org/climate/grist-acqu…

There’s not a lot of good news right now, especially not in the media world. But here’s one positive story: @PacificStand, the award-winning magazine that unexpectedly closed last year has a new home. grist.org/climate/grist-acqu… 1/7

Amid all the upheavals in journalism, I hate it when the hard work of writers, editors, etc., disappears from public view.
At minimum, @grist's acquisition of @PacificStand will preserve the amazing clips of its contributors.
But there's more to come.

One small bright spot this week is that @grist is taking over the @PacificStand archive, and will work to keep it available to the public, and free; even though we haven't published in 10 months, the archive still brings in ~1 million people/month: axios.com/newsletters/axios-…

I've always wanted to be in the @nytimes and mentioned alongside the wonderful work of @topicstories and @AnnaHolmes, though this is not exactly how I was envisioning it... nytimes.com/2019/08/17/busin…

On my final day @PacificStand I’m feeling nostalgic, so I wanted to share some favorite moments and stories. Think of it as a memorial to a job that I loved and that helped me grow as an editor and a person.

Here is that Post It. Written in my first few months @PacificStand. Pretty simple formula, actually. #editors
For 4 years, @throwin_shadows has been overseeing all of our long-lead, incredibly ambitious features. The biggest and best stuff we’ve done has been improved by her touch. She kept a Post-It that said something like “treat people well” and “do great work.” She did both—and more.

The @nytimes on the closing of @PacificStand and @topicstories. I didn't work with @cncep but this is exactly how I tried to run our news coverage so it's still giving me feelings nytimes.com/2019/08/17/busin…

The shuttering this month of @PacificStand, an award-winning media site, is alarming because it did everything right. As IP's Mike Scutari reports, its fatal weakness is one shared by many other nonprofits: overreliance on a single benefactor. bit.ly/2MrczoX

Don't miss this thread, packed with stunning art we were fortunate to run in @PacificStand's digital pages just over the past few months. I've talked about the 20,000-plus stories we ran, but those stories were brought to life by many, many talented photographers & illustrators.

I don't think I've ever read a @PacificStand story I didn't find thoughtful and engaging. @jherrerx's articles on outdated refugee terminology and unfounded fears re migration and disease come to mind. Here's hoping other publications hire staffers and pick up all these stories:
