Unpopular opinion: Ro Khanna just came back from the occupied West Bank with views and impressions that are terrible for Israel. He is not a radical and the entire political system in the US is a fraud, but his message needed to be amplified because it 100% corroborated the Palestinian version of events and reality on the groubd. Instead of using what he did say and reported to bring home some basic truths of the occupation and apartheid which most Americans are still blind to, the online pro-Palestine camp decided to crusade Khanna for what he didn't and couldn't say - that Hamas was justified on October 7, and that every occupied people in the world would do the same. So Khanna's important message was not amplified, but stunted, and he has been discouraged from interacting with openly pro-Palestinian voices. Is the short-lived, meaningless accomplishment of 'exposing' Khanna worth losing the small momentum that his firsthand account could generate, and potentially his willingness to engage on Palestine? Is he really the traitor whose destruction we should be celebrating? I think not.
